knukonceptz battery terminals

Has anyone had any problems with the compression rings getting stripped out or the hole it screws into? On my 3rd order from them in the past month, I decided to purchase +and- battery terminals from knu. I attempted to install them today and ended up rather disappointed with this product. As soon as I pulled the - terminal out of the box, I was able to unscrew 2 of the 3 fittings out of block no problem. The 3rd fitting however was f'd from the start and I was barely able to get it off with a wrench. Well 2 of my three wires (1/0) were able to get to connected to the battery, my starter ground, not so much. I was already aware of the extremely fine threads on this turd so I used extreme caution in tightening the 3rd fitting. Well, it didnt work. Just from taking off the fitting straight out of the box, it took a crap on me and my whole day/week. Ive already destroyed the 1/0 ring terminals that were previously on my big 3 wiring, so now I will be limited to the bs starter ground wire until my issue with knu is resolved. Are these guys pretty good with swapping out damage product for new, what's the process? Do I have to ship this thing back on my dime or will they go ahead and send a replacement?

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love their wire, but I honestly think they need to scrap these terminals and start over.

Not the compression rings themselves (although they can be hit or miss), but the screw you use to tighten the terminal onto the battery post. I was tightening mine down and it tore right through the other side. I had to go out and locate a longer screw with a larger head and some washers so I could get the **** thing tightened down.

I have had some issues with the compression rings, and to be honest, that is not the best way to connect large gauge wires to your battery. And yes, you have to be really, really careful not to strip the threads. I actually had to purchase another negative terminal as my Kinetik battery has a positive battery post that is smaller than what I consider to be the industry standard. I tried finding a replacement post but couldn't locate anything that would fit that battery or that was the right size. Go figure.

I've said it before, and will say it in the future: Compression fittings are junk.

I used Knu's fuse holder and distribution blocks with the compression fittings, and they are a severe pain in the *** to use. I never stripped the threads, but they are too fine for their application, and can easily be stripped without the utmost care. I sold the knu equipment and am now using Kicker distribution blocks and fuse holders. They are top notch quality.

Stick with set-screw terminals, blocks, and fuseholders. There is a reason 90% of the market uses them.

It wouldnt be right if I didn't update the thread with the excellent customer service I received to resolve this problem. I talked to Bill by email and by phone about this issue, they'll be sending out a brand new terminal so I should get it in a couple of days. After this experience, I'm still a little leary of using the compression fittings, hopefully the replacement will be mo better.

i have the battery terminals and 2 distros and never had a problem with any of them. if you are careful there should not be any problems. they could stand to make the thread a little more coarse.

Yeah I have the 2 distros as well, and I really didnt have any problems out of them, but I was nervous as a cat trying to screw them in though. Th blocks and terminals look really nice at a much cheaper price than anything else. I called here locally looking for some battery terminals last week and was only able to find one shop that sold them big enough to accept (1) 1/0 wire and (1) 4awg. They were stingers and he said they were $46 bucks a piece, and I was like WTF. I'll order some Knus.

i have 4 of this battery terminals..

and i hooked up 1/0, 4/0, and starter wires with no problem.. actually in my opinion I think it is better than set screws since in set screws you can pull the wire out if you pull the wire hard enough while with this compression fitting terminals, it is almost impossible to pull the wire out of the hole if done properly..

and oh yeah their customer service is top notch, they answered my question immediately every time and even when I didnt have any 4 gauge compression fitting, i asked them how can i just get those rather than buying the whole terminal.. they immediately sent me 4 of them and asked for just 2 bucks.. I am happy with all of their products

If done properly, why is there any tension at all on the wires? A set screw is more than enough to hold the wire in place if the wire is installed correctly. Relying on the set screw to hold the wire in place with tension on the wire is a ridiculous notion.

Does Kicker make a positive and negative battery terminal with (3) 0/1 Gauge outputs per terminal? That was the main reason I went with Knu, with the "Big 3" and 2 amps I needed a lot of BIG outputs.
