If the person using the DD-1 don't understand how it works it's a bad tool. But with one blowing it sounds like a defect or bad install on the driver. Also if the mid is playing out of its useable bandwidth it can blow. That's the key part to running overrated, keep the bandwidth as minimal as needed.

yeah well i was trying follow the advice of the guy i purchased the speaker from, to show that im trying to do everything to make sure im not making any mistakes. im pretty confident he knows how to use the dd-1, but at the same time he changed my front midrange speakers from BPF to HPF (they're run active) and told me he didnt know what a BPF was (red flag? lol) i just put it back on BPF when he was done.

im picky about my crossover points, i had them on BPF at 120-150hz to ~3khz (cant tell 100% accurately on the dial). I took a lot of the lower end out because i was worried they were moving too much for a 6.5, but i dunno if i should of left it in for voice coil cooling.

my doors are leaky, but is that enough to cause a speaker to fail?

I know what a burp car is, I know those numbers aren't music. Yes, I understand what you're saying. However, my point is that they have their place, not that they're high quality, high excursion, high power speakers (like I said earlier).

I'm not missing the point. Most of us have had Kicker. You don't know what you're missing. If I was you I would keep it that way, much cheaper

Can you think of anything else I need to do to verify I have an issue with either my amplifier or the speakers? I'd like to know if my door being leaky would cause an early failure, or if setting the gains with the DD-1 CD and then running music on bluetooth would cause enough distortion to damage a speaker on one side?

I was just told by the guy who set the gains that he set it to maximum sound quality, track 4? Doesn't know if it's the -5db or -15db. I'm gonna try and find a manual.

ok just looked at the manual and it says track 4 is for SQ, so it sounds like it was set correctly.

Ummm, yeah. Not a big deal either. Sat in a 158db car at an SPL contest I went to. I just said I have been in car audio a long time. Been there done it.

Still doesnt change the fact that Kicker isnt bad at all.
