Kicker CVR 12" DVC 2OHM.

I am about to purchase 2 CVR 12"s dual 2OHM. My amplifier is a JBL BP 1200.1 2OHM stable. Am I running a risk of destroying these subs with my amp? My previous setup had 2 CVR Dual 4OHM. It was insane!!! What do ya guys think?

600 to each 1 should be fine.. if not it doesnt have to be all the way up .. im goin to put 500-600 each on mine.

I just hope tensil design has changed since 2002! I was snapping my leads like crazy!!! I hope Kicker improved on that with their new subs.

Won't be a problem. I ran 2 CVR 2ohm in a JBL 1201 in a ported box for nearly a year, sounded great too.

yea, they have changed. but only for the worse. i had problems with the coils seperating and tensil problems too... had about 8 of em due to a good warranty but every time had the same problem.

I got the subs in the mail on friday. I'm now working on a box. Should I go with a 1.8cubes or 3 cubes?

you going sealed or ported? personally i'd port them. if going sealed i'd go 1-1.5cuft a sub, ported about 1.75-2cuft. a sub. and you'll be fine with that 600wrms to each, i'm running 600wrms+ to my 15" cvr and it's taking it.

It's been a while since I posted. The CVR's are now shot. This is the 4th pair the amp has owned!! I'm not going back to Kicker. I'm looking to pickup a set of subs that will suit my amp.

Any ideas?

Wow, 1 year old post...

Either way, I got to believe there is another variable here... Shouldnt be destroying subs like that. How high are your gains, how hard are you on the volume knob? Are you using bass boost? Just doesnt seem right to be going through 8 subs in less than a year.

I've actually been through 8 subs in 7 years. My subs are set on 3 out of 12. No boost from the h/u. The amp gain is barely at half. It seems my problem are the tenil leads keep snapping off. I guess that's a poor design. The other sub is hanging on. I'm not sure how long.

I'm thinking of replacing them with some Type R's. I haven't really looked at the speaker design. It has to be better than Kicker's.

Go with Cvxs 12s

Cvxs will handle 2000rms if u watch the gain

I was thinking either L7 or another brand. My biggest concern is with the tensil leads snapping off. I'm really getting tired of that.

popping TL's is pusing them past mechanical limits, not the drivers fault.
