Is this enough to start with?

I'm looking at getting an SPL sub that's sorta like an MT but different parts and a different motor. But let's just say I'm getting a 15" MT. I got a 1500D and a 4.5^3 box tuned to 32hz. It would be going in a car that IS NOT set up for SPL because it's my daily driver. However for the price, I can't beat it. When My truck is finished it will go in there. So do you guys think this is worth putting in my car or should I just wait till I get a bigger amp?

you're wondering if you have enough power for a sub that you are keeping secret for some reason... ummm sure, that looks like enough power to me.

i think what you're really asking is if you should underpower an SPL sub in a box that it's not really designed for SPL. if that's the case, than i don't think it would be worth the time/effort. but it's not going to hurt the sub.

If it really is built like an MT.. You might want a tad more than 1.5k RMS. Not that it won't get loud off of 1.5k, I just don't see it performing at 'full potential' with that amount of power. Please note, this is just a comparison from an MT. Your sub could sound entirly different with a given amount of power..

I understand completely. SPL is not my goal lol well at least not at this point in time. Eventually I'll have it in my truck in a good box to get loud, its just lack of money and lack of power. I just wanted to pop it in my trunk for a day or two to get an idea of how its going to sound, what box I should keep it in etc. I'll update this thread once I get the sub and hook everything up.
