If you can grab the sundown new, I would go with that.

I haven't used one, but I have heard many great things about it.

The Kicker is an awesome amp, the ZX's are the most efficient amps I have ever touched. There is absolutely no reason to run it under 2 ohm, the gain in output below 1ohm is not worth the decrease in efficiency. Also, I really don't care about their birthsheets. On every ZX I have had, my actual measured output was greater than the birthsheet rating, and that was at 13~13.5v.

Changing out the alternator is fairly easy if it's mounted up top. It's just a few big bolts that need to be removed from it and it will come right out. I have a SAZ1500D also, and I love it. I am actually running it at 2 ohms right now, and it has my Q sounding very good. I can't wait to add the second sub to it to run it @ 1 ohm.

Yea it looks like the alternator is hard to get to. And i've had a sundown on my grandam and i got no dimming at full tilt. I loved that amp. So i decided to go with the sundown. My insurance company is cutting me a check today so i should get it in the mail later this week or early next week and then i can start ordering my new setup. Tell me what you guys think

Good choice on the Sundown. I look at it this way: Unless you're running a single sub with dual 4 ohm coils, you can probably run the system at .5 ohms if you can run it at 2. I know the Sundown is no longer covered under warranty at .5 ohms, but the fact that it was at one point means it's stable at that load if you have the electrical to back it up. So you're really looking at a possible 2000w out of the Sundown vs. 1500 out of the Kicker depending on your chosen substage. Plus, the Sundown looks better IMO. I never liked the looks of the ZX series amps. The KX and SX on the other hand...
