+ speaker wire on the + on batt and - on the neg. If both subs pop in or out the same you are good. If one pops in and one pops out, they are out of phase.

Confused a little, there are two positives and two negatives per sub

But if you have each amp ran strapped you should only have 2 wires comming off each sub...

It's not crossed in the box, just straight wire from terminal to the trunk...

I'm confused as hell with how they did it, and I'll admit... I wasn't paying attention. Maybe there are four, let me double check

Waste of wire, but OK...

If you cant trace each wire from the amp to the plugs on the subs you will need to pull them out to check phasing.

I am still really lost on the smoke part though. Unless a coil is wired completly wrong and they were shorted out. Only thing I can think of...If that was the case, I am surprise they didnt go into protect or fry.
