Kenny's rant/fix thread

BTW guys, I'm DEATHLY afraid of electric... that's why at shows (or not at shows) I have someone else touch my amps.
I just pulled the amp rack out a little and the power and ground flew out of one amp... so I'm waiting for my buddy to come by in a few and take everything out and rewire.
I have the same fear.....i once moved my box a little bit and my speaker wire got stuck under my box, then i tugged on the wire to check connections and the wire was so tight, it fell off the terminals on the box and touched the other wires and sparked. my dumbass had the car running while all this was happening:uhoh: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I ended up killing my amp and it wouldn't stop burning fuses under my hood, so i sent it in for repairs. One time my amps wouldn't turn off because a wire was touching another, and it ended up draining my battery in the middle of the night.

Dood, not trying to be a dick...but what are you going to do if your at a show and don't have somebody to do everything for you?!?
Gotta start getting your hands dirty man, its the only way to learn and be confident about what your doing.
Dude he is learning as he goes on all of this stuff, its his first wall and first real big setup so what do you expect, hes just being careful and hes still learning

Something is definitely wrong somewhere. My 1500D runs strong and cool at .66 non-stop.
Mine runs cool at 1ohm, its definately some type of wiring issue.

Hit up that DMM, and check everything. Make sure all your batteries are wired up right.

I think if anyone could help you, Jake could. Seeing as he is Mr. Sundown //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm placing a large sum of money that says the amps are not strapped properly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.
I really think that's what it is. I have 8 wires coming off of the four coils, they're not crossed or anything in the back, they go straight to the amps. They're labeled, but I'm not 100% sure they're labeled properly.

Yeah, I know it was a n00b thing to admit... and I find myself touching more and more things, but I've done the occasional accident where a wrench hit positive and negative at the same time, etc.

hey Kenny we should of met up before you left, you couldve worked on my battery bank //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif no worries man, Im very carefully when working around my bank, i was warned by the guy who built it, one wrong move and id be layin on the ground not knowing which was is up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif but I understand how you can be afraid of the stuff(Im the same way), but ya gotta get into it here and there, just be smart about it, no rings, jewelry, watches, belt buckles anything that could conduct the electricity. When I take a lead for one of my amps off, I will usually wrap the end in a thick towel, just to make sure, hope you figure out what happened and there isnt any permanent damage to your equipment--Dinty

Yeah, he's really busy though, I'm trying to get him on the phone!
But here, I'll give you guys the info, maybe someone who KNOWS for a FACT and is not just GUESSING THEY KNOW can make me a diagram of sorts?

Two dual 1 subs, four SAZ-1500Ds.

1 pair of RCAs from head unit's sub out, I have two Y-splitters hooked to it and going into the master amp's inputs.

I want to have it wired to 2 ohms (series) and when strapped each amp should see 1 ohm.

dinty, this gives me the chills, lol

So you have just one preout?

Just to make sure your amps are wired right, take a dmm and put it into where your wires go. Should read .5 per coil if I understand your setup correctly

that doesnt look too bad, at least yours are sealed! i wont post a pic of mine, you might pass out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/scared.gif.f134e57c6c93ccd0f15aa5ac32c7d4a0.gif hehe jk man
