Kenny's rant/fix thread

I wouldn't be able to sleep if I had a setup like that sitting in my driveway not working properly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I'd at least do some simple checks to make sure it's not something dumb.
I would. Knowing that the reason it's not working properly is because I didn't take my time from the beginning.

Just a question, why are you running 2 saz 1500D's for 2 Q's. You could just run the 1500D at .5ohms and call it a day //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I mean head room is always good.
Just curious. that's all. Whenever I upgrade, thats what I plan on doing (single 1500D, half an ohm)
Eh...Because i know of someone who did it with the exact same subs and ended up with a 150(it was in a hatch, but thats not the point...lol)...For some reason I'm on this crazy quest for 150..But chances are that i will be happy with very high 140's.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Not sure man, 2 mags do 150's (loyd), You should be in the balpark if everything is right.

Im going to agree with nick here, and say that you have a wire crossed somewhere, and you have a coil out of phase. That would cause all kinds of problems. You need to get a 9v battery and test every set of wires and make sure you have them in phase. A little 9v DC wont hurt anthing.

You can always pick up a Fluke at any Pawn shop for $40.00 and it will be a true RMS meter.

If your going to do this for awhile, I would pick up a DC amp clamp.

I use a Fluke 189 cause I need the DB function and Recording so I can DL the information to my MAC.

Don't be scared of power from DC voltage, Just fuse everything. A fire is what scares my ***!

Check alt Output "Amps", Voltage, Grounding, Then work your way forward, Battery Output, Voltage, etc..

I keep cheat sheets on everything I would need to know when doing installs. All the Formules for Rail Voltage, Resistance, etc..

I don't do comps, But I would have all my stuff on paper just as it's installed. That way I know what each part is set at. Even a MS paint print out could keep you straight.

You comin down to TX for any shows any time in the future?

The only possible problem kenny might have is taking the subs out from the wall, and then putting them back, by his self haha.

Lloyd....also did a direct swap of the q's and mags...and the q's did a 150 also....i should know....they are the ones that i bought:up2somet:
Don't doubt the sundowns (and the Q's, but I don't own a Q //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif) haha

I dont see why kenny would have to take the BTLs out of the wall...

If he finds that a wire is either wired/labled wrong, just switch it at the amp, who cares if all of the colors dont match right now.

The smoke is what concerns me...Smoke is never good. Well we know that at least one of those coils is a little darker now.

Kenny do the 9v battery test, and see if you find your problem.

True haha, I would do it the hard way though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yeah, thats suprising, because didn't a BTL take like 10kW in the 12in test session and not show any signs of a thermal beating?
