i have a 99 dakota with the infinity "premeium" sound system. i have read that i should bypass the factory amp. is this true, if so should i just run all new wire. i plan on installing component speakers(don't know which ones yet, suggestions welcome) and a 10" sub under the rear seat. i also plan on a new cd player. do i need a four channel amp for the components? i all ready have the sub and a two channel amp for it. one more thing, how do i tell if my sub is a dvc or svc? thanks in advance.

You will have to bypass the factory amps. I had to do the same thing on my 04 4Runner. Wasn't too much fun. Do you know where the amps are? If so that makes it a little easier.

You can pull that amplifier and take to an Audio shop and see if they will test it. Most shops charge very little and some will not even charge...

Go 150 Watts speakers or equal to your amps. 150 watts and up is your amps. That's the good rule of thumb.

The best thing you can do is make a solid plan. This way you won't be spending money twice and having to keep going back in add or replace parts.
