I know you guys are probably tired of "what sub should I get" threads, but I was wondering what some of the favorite subs and amps in this forum were. I'm just trying to open my eyes to more than one forum's idea of a goodsub or a good amp.

I don't want to know prices or anything like that, I just want to know what you all think of as good values for your system, or anyone's in general.

I didn't ask for subs I've never heard of, did I?

I asked for some favorites, and the first one happened to be one I've never heard of.

Great subs I have owned:

SI Mag D2 - I tried the latest hype, I'm happy I did. Just reviewed it the other night after a few weeks of listening.

IA 187 - $100 wonder of a woofer.

IA LI - Big brother to the 187, louder, cleaner, better.

Adire Shiva MK4 (Classic) - This thing is a **** fine woofer in a huge ported box. If I had two it'd make a fine setup.

I've heard the Shiva's in a huge ported box. A pair of them almost sucked the air out of the garage!

What company makes the IA's? (Or, what does the IA stand for)

The latest boners are the Stereo Integrity Mags and any Fi woofer. Type-Rs are still running strong too and I would still recommend it over any sub within its price range.

Wow, that 187 is expensive, for their entry level sub.

Is that SQ that good that the lower rms rating is accepted?

I'm sorta guessing, but it seems like it was made for ported boxes?

Yeah, the 187 is expensive, but worth it. Don't let the specs or it's looks fool you. It's a friggin' beast. It sounds VERY nice for a woofer that's defined by how loud it gets. By far the best sub I've ever owned that cost less than $200. It works equally well in sealed or ported, but ported will get that little extra somethin' for the effort of making one. =)

Also, 300 wrms is just the rating. I've put 6x that much to one with no ill effects.
