Just set my gains BUT.....

I followed the jl recommend steps to set my gains and my front and rear speakers sound great. My sub is not as loud as I was hoping. According to the jl tutorial on gain setting I am looking for 31.6 volts for my sub channel. Here is my issue.... with my gain set allllll the way down (not even turned up slightly) the volts read 32. I figured this means I did not need to turn the gain at all.

My speakers way over power my sub so I turned the gain down on them after properly setting them both to 20 volts and that helped a little.

If I turn my gain about a fourth up it improves my bass dramasticly.... But I do not want to ruin my sub. Any advice?

Where did you get the target voltage from? And are you reading the AC volatge with the subwoofer hooked up or not?
Target voltage is from JLs gain tutorial web page. The sub was not hooked up... I was told to remove the wiring before
