Well i just installed about 1000 watts RMS and tested it with my car running. worked for about 30 seconds then subs stopped and deck dimmed all the way out. and now my car wont start.

What should i do to fix it. some people said yellow top battery and some suggested a new h/o alternator. With my car the alt is pretty much hidden under the engine and quite honestly i dont trust my self to fix it, so a battery would be way easier for me but i dont really want to buy it if i know just that wont fix it.

I have a Boston GT24, some ****** Xplode 4ch amp, 4 alpine 5*7 Type S and a 4 farad cap.

and my car is a 2001 ford focus.

I had this happen to me, sounds like a drained battery. I found out later that I had the sub hooked up incorrectly and the amp was draining my battery. Give it a jump and check your sub wiring.

Most likely the battery. Get a new one, its good to do this for regular maintenance anyways. Also you wont need that cap in your situation and it could of been causing the problem so remove it. If it is the battery, you need to diagnose if the battery was just bad and it was its time to go or see if something is shorting and zapping it.

ewwwww... i hate focus's. my wife has one and her alt is next to impossible to get out. get a batt asap, before your alt decides to take

a **** like hers did. i only put 1000rms in hers to. a kicker 1000.1 & a 15 L7. and then her **** gave up lol

use a digital multi meter and see how many volts your battery has while the vehicle is off it should be around 12 volts. if its low you should try charging it or jumping it. after you test the battery try doing it again but with the vehicle ON this will test your altenator. it should read about 14 volts give or take a few. if its really low then you need a new altenator. Good Luck!!!

Around 12? I'd hope it was atleast 12. Preferably more on the 12.8+ side of things.

if you did big 3 put your factory wire back in
I didnt.

I jumped my battery and started some stress tests. my deck goes to 46

0-35 was fine a little bit of drop in the cap but nothing to serious.

36-40 the cap was draining too much and couldn't recharge

46 the cap dropped to about 4 and my inline fuse popped.

I will try removing the cap and putting in the fuse. if that doesn't work i will try the yellow top.

Did you find out exactly what was wrong with it? just so i have a idea what to look for.

My dumb a$$ had the sub wired incorrectly so it wouldn't even respond with the battery test. I rechecked the diagram Subwoofer Wiring Diagrams, One 2 ohm Dual Voice Coil (DVC) Speaker and realized that i had one of the + and one of the - on opp coils wired but not lined to each other so the amps were on and trying to power the woofers, thus draining my battery. During this time, nothing was coming out of my sub.
