Ok I just got done doing the install on my silverado, and the voltage is droping crazy. I wasnt expecting it to be this bad. Is there anything that I could be missing. Iplain to get a alt but not yet

If your HU puts out sufficient voltage on its outputs even running the gains near their lowest setting can mean the amps are putting out that 3,000w of rated power.

Do the big 3 ASAP. that will probably help a little. But lik everyone has said, 3000w and stock electrical dont mix.

Big 3 and set your amp using a DMM

I had **** near 2500 watts on stock electrical with no dimming what so ever.

what size is the stock alt?

Big 3 is very important.

what size power wire you using? 1/0 is a must with that kinda power.

got the big 3 done on mine last week but still waiting on subs i used some of that orange 4 gauge i assume it wont dim as much

Co-sign. If you have a newer vehicle that comes with 120-140 amp Alternator and you have solid battery (Optima, Exide NASCAR select 1000 or 950 Gel Cell) you can get away with 1000-1200 with little to no dimming.

Anything over that you need to look into getting tha above mentioned and power cell

I love how people talk about running 2k+ watts on a 90 amp stock alternator and say they have no dimming or voltage drops. Either you have a magical battery/capacitor somewhere or you have denied Ohm's Law and should receive a Nobel Prize in Physics.
