question about using RCAs

I have a 4 channel amp running front and rear speakers. My question is should I use a 4 channel RCA for the 4 channel amp or would it be better to use 2 2channel RCAs?

oh and one more question. Does the lenght of the RCA affect sound quality? I drive a mazda 3 and the 12 ft is not long enough to reach from my deck to the trunk. i have to use 18 ft.

If your amplifier can operate all 4 channels with only 2 channels of input you can do that......but you'll lose the ability to fade front-to-rear. If you want to retain your fade you will need to use both the front and rear outputs on your headunit and the 4-channel RCA's.

A 4 channel 18 ft rca is the same as two 2 channel 18 ft. RCA's.

If using identical brand of RCA's, either would be fine.

Except the $6.50 difference in price.

It wouldn't make economic sense to buy two of the 2-channels.

plus a set of 4 channels look sexy to me when u have one cable but those 4 inputs looking like dreadlocks plug into the amp. Has a nice clean look.
