***Pics of my amp settings added!***

Ok guys, here is what i installed on my '05 Tahoe w/ HU Pioneer Avic-D3.

Alpine SPX-17REF (Fronts)

Alpine SPS-600 (Rears)

Hifonics HFi100.4 (Powering them)

My first impression, speaker sounded awesome. well atleast i thought it did. the more i mess with the amp settings and the more i listen to, it seems like fronts are not doing much. there is def sound coming out of the fronts. but the back speaker sounds wayyyy better. i've noticed on the crossover for the fronts, there was some setting with a fuse i can change for the tweets. my choices were 0db, -1.5db, -3db, and -6db. i just left it at 0db cause i didn't know what it did exactly. would it fix my problem if i change this to like -6db? what does that exactly do?

Also on the SPX woofers it had terminals for "tweets" is that for people who does not wish to use the crossover? why would anybody not want to use the crossover when your paying all this money for?

bottom line is the rear speakers costs me 1/3 of the price on the fronts and the rear sounds wayyyyy better right now. help please! thanks guys.

I will explain the few questions first then start asking questions on setup..

the "fuses" you see for -dbs are if the tweets are positioned in such a way they are to bright so you can dim them down a bit..

the "tweeter" terminals on the speakers are so you can mount the tweeter coaxial style.. you still use the xover with them that way

now then..

did you switch the front rcas with the back rcas?

is the fade messed with?

set the gain for the front?

fronts out of phase?

front rcas all sending signal? if one of the rcas got pinched or broke somewhere the sound will be cut in half.. doubtful this is the issue or one side for the front would be quiet.

RCA seems fine, there is def sound coming out from the fronts just the back seems little more louder and clearer.

gain and all that i have it set as the exact same set up as the rear speakers.

when i get out of work i'll try to take some pics of the amp settings. if that would help.

when you get home try fading to all the speakers separately.. front right front left rear right rear left.. and make sure the rcas are lined up right. and that none of the speakers sound funny.. if the fronts are out of phase they will still play music.. but be MUCH quieter and out of wack

Ok. so i was messing with the fad and bal. when i put all the sound thru the rear speakers everything still sounds good and clear(it sounds the way it should be). but when i put everything to the front it sounds very very muffled.i can still hear all the music, just very muffled sounding. i wonder if i get something switched around?

i took a pic of my amp settings n stuff.. see if i got everything right? thanks.

sorry. shitty camera.

okay do this. fade to every speaker seperate and make sure only the correct speaker is playing and nothing else. then cut the radio off and double check the rca's...make sure they are where they need to be...turn your phase to zero if your hifonics offers that. then check to make sure you plugged the tweeters and mids into the correct spot on the crossovers and do not have them backwards. also switch the rear rca's to the front input on the amp. leave the front RCA's unplugged and see how the rear speakers sound. then if they sound fine move the rear speaker wires to the front channels and see if the channels on the amp are okay...get it?
