Just bought some new subs

If they are 12's, 4 cubes net means more like 1.5 cubes each after port and driver displacement. Im not familiar with the G5, but for most 12's that would be on the small side, which would hurt your low-end output. If you go sealed, or they are 10's, you should have plenty of room though.

Do not skimp on the enclosure design in order to use larger subs, or go ported. In my experience, trying to squeeze two 15's into too small of an enclosure in too small of a trunk (for example) many times performs worse than running two 12's in the optimum box. Not saying you are necessarily doing that here, just warning to keep it in mind.

You make some good points, I do know the box is a huge part of a good sub stage... you can make a very nice set of subs sound like ass with the wrong box. I did get the 12" G5's and was thinking of going ported but I wasnt sure if I was going to be able to get the optimal box into my car. I wanted to know if I was going to be able to get the sound I want out of a sealed box, some subs do much better sealed then others, I have never worked with these particular subs so I wanted to make sure they were one of the subs that would do good sealed.

How do these compare to the w6v2's? Have any of you heared both? I have a set of w6v2's but I was going to through those in my truck.

G5's are great sealed...trust me. With the right amount of power you should be pretty impressed. They are not an spl based sub but they can still get loud and sound great doing it.

Ok, susbs are out for delivery, will be at my door step before I get home from work. I am starting the box build today and was able to determine that getting 4 cubes into my car just isnt going to happen (pontiac G6's are not box friendly). so I am stuck with the sealed route unless I can run these with about 1.75 cubes before displacement. How do you guys think they would do if I ran them shy of recomended specs going ported?
