Joel's Chevy Truck Build

Nice looking plans for sure. Gonna be sweet.

Little info on it, its a GMC 1500, looks to be 4x4 by the tires and stance (but we all know that could lie)

Looking forward to the rest of the build, got a buddy with an 05 Silverado which is very similar inside.

** Update **

Joel responded with his equipment list:

Vehicle: 1999 GMC Sierra Extended Cab

Head Unit: Eclipse AVN 5500

Front Amp: Eclipse LPX 4001 (2)

Sub Amp: Memphis Audio 4000d

Tweeters: SEAS 27TFFNC/G NEO Fabric Dome (2)

Mid-Bass: Mach 5 Audio MLI-65 (4)

Subs: Mach 5 Audio SPL-15 (2)

Mid/High Crossover: Custom designed passive 2-way

He will be taking more pics this weekend.

Here is the crossover design with a response curve. I listened to it for a good hour using a variety of music (rock, pop, jazz - no rap though). It sounds quite balanced. A person can add a resistance circuit if they feel the need to drop the highs a bit. Keep in mind that this is a nominal 2 Ohm load setup so make sure to use a suitable amp to drive it.

looks like a great build so far. is it a 4x4 or 2wd i think it needs to either go up or down its right in the middle. Either way id lowere it but i think itd look a lot better with a higher or lower stance. ill b watching this build the glass work looks awesome

It's a 4x4. He will be getting new rims for it - not sure what size. He will be entering it in a few car shows in the area next summer, so he has all winter to work on it.

hey mark, i saw this truck coming home from the lake i think sept long weekend. i guess this explains the Mach 5 audio decall on the back! also whats up with the ply wood for boxes??

wut kind of wood is that? Birch?
Rough Fir I got for cheap.

Ply has extremely good structural integrity compared to MDF. It was the logical thing to use. I should have used MDF for bracing however. Oh well, next time...

Yeah, the good thing about it is he won't be doing the fiberglass finishing on the box until next spring, so if this box doesn't come out according to plan, I have all winter to do up a second one...
