Fusing a Distro Help?

Hey guys my Grandpa is getting me some pretty good s*** for my system and saving me some money since he is an electrician for a huge factory and has stuff laying around... This brings me to my question... He was getting me a distro block that they use for things that are up to 600 amps and from what Im hearing they are a piece of solid aluminum that is milled out for the wire size and screws but it isnt fused... Do I need to get one thats fused or will this one be ok? I am running Knu KCA 1/0 in and probably just some short runs of OFC Rockford (since thats what the local shop sells) 4 gauge out...

as long as the mainline is fused by the battery you can fuse after the distro but before the amps at back the distro doesn't "have to be fused" it is just a convenience..

thanks for the help man... yes it will be fused at the batt and the amps are both fused as well
