Trust me, its not like that here man. I have never paid full price for an audio equiptment at a store, unless I was there too pick up a few feet of wire I needed right away. Anywayz the only place here I couldn't get to go down on anything, was the place that sold JL. However when I was in NE this guy said he'd sell me a 10w7 for like $380 brand new, the guy was cool as hell and took a liking too me lol. If i had the $380 I probably would be bumping it right now lol. The shop here wants $525 I think... not gonna happen considering I know they aren't paying anywhere near that.

just for the record, i can only install what the customer brings in to me, so saying that... the product wasnt too impressive.. i mean if u are just lookin for a sub thats gonna make alot of noise, then go ahead and buy u a jl sub, but id rather 4 lanzar 12"s that would make just as much noise in a vehicle.. (not condoning the purchase of lanzar subs at all by the way!!!!) just had to add that at the end.

I have been on several forums for 3-4 years now, and boy, I have come across some stupid posts, but this one jumps to the top 3.

I think my sig indicates what I am looking for in a system. Noise is not it.

The W6v2 and W7s are widely accepted as some of the best sounding subs available.

I am not saying any particular sub by any particular manufacturer "is" the best sounding(although Eric Holdaway says the 12W6V2 is the best sounding subwoofer he has ever tested for Car Audio & Electronics....but I am sure that must be some marketing ploy) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif but to say JL does not make good stuff is insane.

Again, I think the NON JL users present themselves as "elitists" and try to impress their friends by tossing around names many have not heard of regarding car audio.

I run JL stuff. I don't consider that some snobby endeavor. I have just had excellent results with their equipment(XR coaxes, XR comps, 2 subs, and 2 amps). I could swap out the amps for something else at some point possibly, but this sub will be buried with me.

SPL competitions mean abso-fvcking-lutely nothing when looking for a sub to toss into your daily driver. I don't understand why people don't get that? Why look at a vehicle that has $100k+ invested into, that burps at a single frequency for a few seconds (at most) to make ANY judgments about either the products used, or the competing products. Anyone who uses SPL comps as any kind of comparative standard is just idiotically ignorant. Plain and simple.

If your installations of JL Audio subs has been less than impressive, then the problem is your installation and not the equipment.

No, JL Audio is not the god of car audio. But, their subwoofers are damn fine performers no matter which way you want to slice it. They perform well, and are a great company at supporting their products post-sale.

Expensive? Kinda, but not too bad. Everyone keeps talking about the "internet brands"....well, check out what the MSRP on the new Tumult's will be. Those are pretty darn close to the MSRP of the W7's (comparing apples to apples).

It's useless squeak, I've tried telling him this 3 times lol., and for the record imo i hope this thread doesn't get locked. HOW MANY OF YOU FOLKS HAVE HEARD MANY JL SETUPS??? HOW MANY OF THOSE HAVE NEVER HEARD AN "IMPRESSIVE" SETUP BY JL. I think this just goes to show how important install really is.

i guess numbers speak for themselves.... lookin at the top two major teams in the world now as far as spl competition, team pioneer is the record holder and team jbl is right behind them, not "team Just Loud audio". this thread was never intended to be a jl bashing thread, i was just wanting to see why so many people wanted to go with that product.

The names of the top 2 "teams" for SPL and $2.00 will get you a cup of coffee. Some of us could not care less about how loud something is>

MECP Certified master installer, and i dont know how to install lmao.... and just cause i said that it was expensive didnt mean that i was complaining, for all of u that seem to think that. i dont want the product so i have no reason to want to b1tch about the pricing.. i was just givin my opinion, just like all of u are. but anyways,u guys have fun with the rest of this thread... im done with it!!! Ya know what scares me most about people today? Their complete lack of desire to at least try to hide how stupid they are. He seems proud of it, but I am sure he is just sitting back thinking none of us know anything since we might use or (gasp) defend the use of JL stuff.

This thread isn't even about JL. It could be about any successful brand (JL, RF, Alpine, MTX, etc).

I am a newb if even I know a better of comparing a sub, than to go by who's one tone burp machine yields the most spl. So you said pioneer was #1. You are telling me pioneer has the best sub out, correct?

Yeah...that sounds like it's the case.

Some of the worst installs I've seen and stupidist comments I've heard have come from "MECP certified installers". A big fancy title doesn't mean you know what the hell you are doing. Typically it's worse having the title because 1) those people w/ it assume they know more than they actually do because they have a cool patch on their sleeve and a fancy title behind their name, and 2) customers unfortunately believe the BS that they spit out because of that big fancy patch on your sleeve and a fancy title behind their name.
