first of all zapco does make speakers and subs.
second of all DD does make amps including smaller 4 channels.

AND third in order to have a great product you have to look at the value (price vs. quality)

the point I am trying make... you just don't know, obviously... so don't open your mouth if you don't know....

- you think you know, but you don't... when you read this garbageman, remember, that bright idea you had of what to say however witty it was, don't say it...

jl is good but it's value is low...

Did you need read all my post? Guys like you are why this forum doesn't get the respect it should. Do you know how many flavor of the months have come and gone on this forum? All I stated was my opinion as the thread asked and I never slammed anyone or other companies it was my opinion as I have my experience with. Zapco, Alpine, Soundstream, Delco, Bose, DD or any other company all may make great stuff as well which I can't comment because I don't have those products nor have I. The knock on JL is price otherwise they have a good rep. and been around a long time, no more no less. Some people like Chevys and some Fords I can only speak what I know and guys like you think you know it all.

Just a thought.. Havent seen anybody mention "durability, reliability, customer service, warranty" Sometimes you pay more for something and do so for reasons other then sound quality. Now before I get cursed out id like to make clear that this is my opinion,, usually,, key word,,, usually, the more reputable company is better on all these aspects. SO lets say you can find some subs that sound better for cheaper, they are usually from companies that arent so well known. Obscure names that arent sold on your crutchfields, onlinecarstereos, sonicelectronix, or even your local car audio shop. Brands that you have to google just to find are kind of scary sometimes, when it comes to shipping it out due to a problem,, you might be waiting a long time to get that thing back...QUICK QUICK,,,someone make up a post on how you have had great experiences with these less reputable brands warranties and turn around time...anyways,,,,I cant speak for those companies as I dont own those products. But with JL,, they have hooked me up a few times,,,and quick...just an oppinion, i dont wanna be called a noob for pointing out that aspect,,lol.. Quick example,, im an electronics tech,, I do warranty work for all the major brands of TV.... You can get a polaroid plasma or visio for way cheaper then a sony or hitachi,,, the picture is just as good with the cheaper ones,, but guess what,,,,when someones sony lcd breaks down, there replacment parts get to me within a day or 2 wheras our polaroid customers have to wait months sometimes. I dont wanna hear any posts about im comparing apples to oranges,, it was just an example......sometimes taking the cheaper route contains a catch or 2...thats all im saying.

as far as jl is concerned. they have good build quality and are in general, well rounded. but as far as best evar? i think they are middle on the totem pole.

Actually, in my earlier post I said I hate JL but not because of quality. Those other attributes were implied in the overall quality of the company. And guess what?? I still hate JL and still think they're over priced.

In lieu of JL I use mostly Pioneer Premier products. I have an amp that I bought used and when I took it apart I noticed a couple of the power supply capacitors were swelling up and had acid oozing from them as in they were pushed very hard at one time. I called Pioneer, told them what I needed and in less than a week I had my new capacitors back and installed them. All within 10 days. So I doubt that JL would be any better in this situation than Pioneer was. And guess what?? They didn't gouge me either.

P.S. I buy all my gear from a local shop.

Alright, now im just nit picking, what is the deal with the punctuation man?! And yeah i know what your saying, sometimes companies on the internet can be scary and many times with good reason, however, to buy just based on noterity is a little extreme. There are plenty of fly by night audio dealers online, however companies that have made the names for them selves like ID, FI, Aorua, Arc and zapco did so by providing exactly what you said. More than just sound quality. These arent shady characters sneaking around in the dark alleys and shadows of the web, they are by all right well established, successful companies with membership and sound track records with the BBB. Valid point, but not applicable. A lot of people that arent familiar with home audio equipment will be quick to say that Bose rules the roost, and stare at you blankly when you mention B&W. Mainstream recognition does not a superior product make.

Good thread to back up my statement. You are very informed on Pioneer so you can speak about them and they are a big company so cool, as I am with JL. I have never owned Pioneer so I would not post on them but I do and have on JL. What JL products have you owned and why do you hate JL so we can compare?

Thanks for indirectly backing up my point....Pioneer is a well known reputable brand,, so id imagine that you did get your parts quick.. Im not tryna classify what brand is popular and whats not,, just mentioning a point, its up to everyone else to see where its applicable and where its not. I dont have experience with the other brands so I couldnt say.. All i can say is Im happy with what I have....

I've never owned a JL product. Nor have I spoken bad for the quality of their products. My problem with them is how they GOUGE their prices. They make some high quality products but you can't tell me you can't get just as good quality from another mfg for alot less money. That and the fact I've been to many USAC shows where I see alot of young punks sporting JL equipment and turn their noses up at me because I use Pioneer. When its all said and done I usually whip their ***** in SQ AND Install and take 1st place. Then they want to get all pissy about it and can't understand how someone with NO JL in their car beat their all-JL system. All I do is laugh and go about my business.

Like many others have said, you cannot say something is the best because everyone has their own opinions.

However they do make great products, w7s for example despite being overpriced are great subs as well as the w6 being one of the best sq subs in the price range. All their products are above average and normally a good buy. It sucks what people have made them become.

As for someone who said any fi sub will destroy a w7 hands down, i stringly disagree, with the exception of the btl the w7 would hand any model its *** easily in any category, except cost.
