Jl Audio or Kicker?

What do you all think about these subs JL Audio 12W0v2-4? I presently have 4 12" Kicker CVR and like them there just not the best sounding subs so I was looking to upgrade.

I dont think a w0 would be much if any of an upgrade. If you went with the w3's i believe that would be a bit of a step up

the jl0 1 2 3 would be a downgrade .. ive heard all 4 and cvr > those 3 never heard 4/5 but 6 and 7 would kill them

my friend had both subs, 2 12 jlw3 and then he got 2 12cvrs same amp same power and the crv's are a lot louder than his w3s

that doesnt surprise me, although I would bet the JLs sounded better and played lower notes better

box tuned to 34hz the jls sounded better on the higher notes, 40hz+ but the cvrs sounded better on the lows 39hz and under

Depends on the W3 series. I own a pair of the 10w3v2s and they are nothing to write home about because they tend to produce more midbass than sub bass in JL's recommended enclosures. OTOH, the 10w3v3s actually produce some sub bass.

My CVRS didnt get low for shitt, however, this was in the Kicker Ported Prefab that seems to be tuned unusually high (40s?)..but they did get loud

I've had them in a ported box and it sounded okay somewhere in the 35-37 but when I sealed it I got alot better response somewhere in the low 30's and it was flexin but still didn't sound clean. I heard that Kicker's get loud and low but they are sloppy, What do you think?

have you thought about maybe upgrading to a higher line of kicker sub??? like the CVX??

You're gonna get a lot of hate for saying those brands (specially JL) but if you want SPL, stick with kicker, and if you want SQ (and willing to pay more) go with JL. HOWEVER there's other subwoofers much better than those for the same price or cheaper.
