i need a little help deciding on 2 8w7's, 2 10w6v2's or (1) 12w6v2. the vehicle is a nissan armada headunit is kenwood dd6019 amp is Memphis 1000.1d what ever sub(s) i choose will be sealed, type of music i listen to rap (down south) and jazz. I'm not looking to beat down the block but i do want something that is clear and that can get a little loud. out of the three set ups what would be the best one? Also i haven't upgraded anything as of yet.

Is that Memphis 1 ohm stable? If not, 8w7 are out. You could only wire them at 1.5 or 6 ohm. I'd pick the 2 10s over the 12 since they'll make better use of the amp and stay cleaner than the single 12 at the volumes you'll probably demand out of them.

Even then, they're not your best option because they only come in 4 ohm DVC so you can't wire them down to 2 ohm. I'd consider 2 IDQ 10" D2 subs.

The Re value of the 8W7s are high enough that a 2 ohm stable amp would be fine on a pair in parallel.

The 2 10s have the most linear diplacement potential and will have the most power going to them as well since you can wire them to 1 ohm. Couple that with the inherent SQ of the W6 series in a sealed box and you should be good to go.

This assumes that the amp you have is 1 ohm stable. If it isn't, the 12W6 is the better choice.

yeah i can wire the amp to 1ohm according to my installer. which of the 3 would give the best sq and spl? also i leaning towards the 8's because a local guy is seeling them for $200 the 10's are $400 and the 12 is $230, so price wise it will be the 8's but after i buy these subs i don't want to buy any subs for a while. just fyi

I assume the $200 and $400 is for each sub and not for both? $200 for 2 8w7s would be killer. And $400 for 1 10w6v2 is rediculous.

I'd think the 10w6v2 would give better SQ with good SPL than the w7. I think the w7 would give OK SQ and better SPL. But if he's charging $400 per 10w6, buy online. You can get one for under $280. Or try to get him to lower his price to at least $350.

he is selling the 2 8's for $200 for both, i think he is really strapped for cash, and the 2 10's are $400 just for subs or $500 with the box but i would take them out of the prefab box and get one built. and it's $230 for the one 12. i've had 1 12w6v2 in a ported ox and it sounded good. i've also had 2 10w6v2's in a sealed box and the sound was good but i don't think it was installed correctly because after multiple bass notes they would clip out. but i did go to a local audio store and heard a 10w7 and it sounded really good and that was my first time hearing the w7. so i was told that i can get more out of my amp with the 8w7's than any of the other set ups but i'm not really sure.

I'd be real cautious about 2 8w7s for $200 total. One is typically $350+ online. Maybe he just doesn't know any better, but those 2 8s are worth more than the 2 10s.
