to the OP... just own up to buying JL's shit stream of marketing bs and move on. There are plenty of choices for you out there these days. I thoroughly suggest you read thru the forums here and don't go after every boner sub some of the boneheads on here push on people. Make up your own mind, learn and read here and soak it in, then go buy some wang.

jl is shit i bought one blew it up lol smoked its *** there like ya it can handel all the watts you can push i was like really like 6000watts OHYA they said i bought a jl box with it i said ill be back and i better get a new one i went out to my car hooked it up turned the amp up and hit it low for like 30 mins in there parking lot went and got the guy and said watch this cranked it and poped the cone lol blew the saround and he was like wtf did you jsut do i said i hit 6000 watts you said it would handel it lol needless to say he called jl they would give me my money back after 2 days fighting with them they gave me a new sub sold it brand new for 800 and bought my first one for 500 so what im saying JL IS A BUNCH OF SILLY ******S i will never deal with them agian only real brands were you can talk to a tester or builder like re or elemental

My brother bought a blown 13w7 (intentionally) and we live about 30 minutes from JL and we called down there to see if we could drop it off and if they would give us a dealon repairing it because the speaker is 5 months old and looks PERFECT! They said its the same price no matter what $425 and then it only has a 90 day warr...Im currently about to start my build and I can tell u this....Ill be needing some advice from you guys about what subs to do. On top of that price they had the secretary talking to me and when I wanted to speak to someone that built speakers she said Nope u get me....thats it. I have always been a JL guy with my cars but now its time to move onward. I think Focal is gonna get some of my Dough and RE XXX maybe or DD. No more W7 for me....for doing my brother wrong. I thought because I live a half hour away they would hook me up and for being a 15 year customer with 3 full systems with all their stuff in it. its as simple as this:

You bought an unauthorized product from a company who protects their dealer base. you get vioalated when you get a quote to fix it. Had the sub been bought authorized to begin with it could have easily been replaced at your local JL dealer with no issues. Everybody is trying to save a few dollars by bypassing the dealer network but in the end are destryoing the companies who once put out great product. Jl is simply protecting their name.

jl never impressed me.. they just did NOTHING special.. people rave about the w6s and there SQ, but they didn't sound better than alot of woofers you can get for half the price. for instance people swear the w7 is the best sounding and loudest woofer... as soon as people used them, they where noting special... the w6 is 600 bucks.. the AE AV simply is superior in every way and is a mere 275 shipped... less than half.. with a 3 year warrentry... i recently installed a AE AV 15 on 2 1750s @4ohm mono, despite the coil rubbing it sounded excellent and output was jaw dropping... i would compare it to the DD 3500 series output wise while sounding exceptional... i will be 7/32 the price.. hell for the same price the IDQ is a much better option... its basically a w7 output wise sounded better with 1k and is cheaper than both the w6 and w7...
