JL Audio disappoints me

the only thing that disappoints me are people who buy stuff and dont do research on a product and bash the company when they cant get something 4 nothing or free. Just because they cant do a $100 recone doesnt mean their a bad company anyone on here would have told u there recone/repairs are pricy. When i had my my 12w6v2 it was like $200 to get fix friom hi-fi buys when they were still open. you can either afford it or dont complain about it and move on homie...

You have to understand from JLs standpoint- they are not in the business of re-coning ebay bought blown w7s.... they SELL whole subs at FULL retail.... and do it quite well....

They sell BMW M5s.. yeah you can buy a civic and make it faster for less $$ but it still ISNT a BMW

JL isnt good fro dealers eather. they have a high buy in and a monthy buy min. that is why a show that sells JL dosent sell much other than JL or push JL really hard because they have to sell so much a month.

take apart a w7 and you will see the soft parts are nothing highend.

i would contact Dave (teampsi) http://www.fixmyspeaker.com if anybody could recone it i bet he could and for less than half that $. who pays $450 for a recone,lol...

X's 10 they are nice but not anywhere near as nice as what they sell for. they are doing the same thing Kicker did getting a huge name then screwing everyone on the price.

If any of you were ever a dealer for either 1 you would know exactly what I am talking about. especially if you had been 1 before their "new" pricing policies they implemented.

I'm not sure if he's still the owner, but he had a kick *** stereo system 3 years ago. i saw it on TV. A pimped out boat with full JL audio gear too. I think his name was Chris something but don't qoute me on nothing

My brother bought a blown 13w7 (intentionally) and we live about 30 minutes from JL and we called down there to see if we could drop it off and if they would give us a dealon repairing it because the speaker is 5 months old and looks PERFECT! They said its the same price no matter what $425 and then it only has a 90 day warr

Shouldn't the price be the same regardless?

...Im currently about to start my build and I can tell u this....Ill be needing some advice from you guys about what subs to do. On top of that price they had the secretary talking to me and when I wanted to speak to someone that built speakers she said Nope u get me....thats it.

Generally speaking, a person who is good at dealing with customers deals with customers, and a person who is good at building things builds things. You can't just call up a company and demand to speak with whomever you want. I'm going to call MS customer service tomorrow and ask to speak with the head of the software team about getting a replacement XP install disc.

I have always been a JL guy with my cars but now its time to move onward. I think Focal is gonna get some of my Dough and RE XXX maybe or DD. No more W7 for me....for doing my brother wrong. I thought because I live a half hour away they would hook me up and for being a 15 year customer with 3 full systems with all their stuff in it. I doubt they would have noticed if you hadn't bought a thing. Don't expect much different treatment from Focal or RE, especially if you're trying to skip the dealer network (which is the one place where tenure can be rewarded).

He is right: it has been one of the best subs for the last ~8 years and will continue to be a strong competitor, especially in the usual brick-and-mortar retail market.

JL has pretty much gotten full of themselves. They don't realize that they're not the shit anymore.

They are a retail sales product plain and simple and will only deal with customers

JL may not be popular here, but they sell the sh it outta woofers and amps no matter how high the cost. You don't see them worried about the recession. Other companies have come and gone or gotten bought out. JL is still at it and still on top. You can hate on the company, but they still running things.

To the OP a recone is a recone, expecting special treatment from a shop you frequent is one thing, expecting special treatment from a company that does global business is kinda naive. Sell the blown sub and get something else! JL probably won't care.
