"Are" is present tense as well. If you're going to correct grammar, at least know what you're talking about. "Are" is the present plural tense of the intransitive "to be." "Is" is the singular present tense of the same verb. "Is" is correct in that usage, where "are" would be correct if the statement had been "JL amps are the best."

Me and a local shop owner had a lil discussion about this, he said JL sucks cuz there over priced, but hes comparing them to what he carries (Powerbass, MTX) When in my mind JL and those brands are on two different levels. But he didnt get my logic, he thinks his ASA2000.1's for $600 are 10x better for any application then a $850 1000/1.

Kinda right up there with saying that a Camaro is a better car than a BMW because it is cheaper and has more power.

haha never thought of that comparison, ill have to bring that up next time. But then again he has the mentality that a WATT=WATT no mater what....
