JL 1000/1 problem

ok, this problem ia being dictated to me from 60 miles away, but apparently, my friend has a SX and a 1000/1...he has had the amp at 1 ohm for over a month now with no problem, yesterday he said a "sonic noise" was coming out of his sub...all four LEDs were on...he unplugged everything and rehooked it up, now the only lights on are the power light and the low "omega sign"...I am assuming he means low ohms...the thing is, the sub isnt hooked up, just power ground and remote...and ideas?

ur friends an idiot... with that amp it should have been wired to 4 ohm.... instead of 1... he might have finally messed up the amp.. i had the exact same thing.. 1 sx12 and a 1000/1 but it was at 4 ohms...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

just sounds like the amp is messed up and now sending some sort of feed through the other speakers... tell him to disconnect the rca's n c if it stops..

simple.... jl is not like other amps that can drop 50-100% there impedence... ie..

orion ... rated at 1 ohm prolly will run to 1/4 ohm....

Jl slash amps will NOT run for long like that... there meant for 1.5-4 ohm only!!! the light s prolly stuck on now cuz he fried a channel or the board... i think hes sol..

kinda serves him right tho....

especially since that sub/amp runs great at 4 ohm

i wonder why he wired it 2 1 ohm......dont they produce about the same amount of power at 4 ohms as they would produce at 1 ohm

That's why you don't run an amp that's not 1 ohm stable at 1 ohms lol. Does he have warrantly on it from JL at all? Even if he does the warranty's probably void cuz he ran it at 1 ohm, but who knows if they'd actually be able to tell if it was or wasn't.

And most good amps like i said if u READ .the posts.. will run at least 1/2 there rated impedence...noob
