Jesse Jackson Comments

And let me add this...as long as I can remember, I have been a Republican, however, I am starting to be drawn towards Obama, because America needs a strong leader...a JFK type, and that is what Obama is.

The only problem I have with him is lack of experience and the fact that I have always refused to support a one term senator running for president.

McCain is a liberal Republican, and while I respect him (for being a POW when he could have easily went home) he is not a leader, which is what this country needs.

I think the bigger question is why are the white people at Fox trying to stir shit up in the black community? If you don't know the answer to that question, you really do not understand the extent of racism in America today.

Jesse Jackson is a great man in a since of what he has done for us as a race, but us born after the civil rights movement feels like he is stuck in the past. I do comend him for helping advancing us in society, but he makes it like he represents us a whole. Yeah I was born in Bmore, which has the highest black on black crime, but you don't see me whining talking about we can't advance. And who is he decided who is a black man when he is one him self?come on, he makes us seem like all we want is a f*ckin handout. I mean d*mn. What's a black man then? A dope dealer. So I guess I would qualify for one cause I was one, but now cause a black gets his master he is a sell out? Well Im in that group now cause Im school. So define african american? I guess cause obama is someone positive we can look up to who isn't a athlete, he is not black. Its like they say, we hate to see our own make it but quick to blame someone when we don't. I say f*ck Jesse, let's focus as a country. Not a race.

E nellz

I knew a guy from BMore and he said that set of The Wire is exactly how it is. I thought the West side of Chicago was bad.

Well...it was O'Reilly...he stirs shit up in every community.

The whole thing was a set up.

Jackson KNEW the camera was on and Jackson did it to HELP Obama.

I mean come on, you don't go into the orielly studio at fox news and talk shit in front of a camera without knowing they will use that shit.

This is exactly the type of thing that Obama needs to distance himself from the "radical black preachers" after the incident with his reverend saying 'god dam america'.

It was obviously a political play and done purposively.

I'll put Barack Obama to the side for a moment and just look at Jesse Jackson.

Honestly, he is human, and that means he is more than likely dumb. Here you have a gentleman who has run for the Democratic nomination twice and did not succeed, yet he sees fit to tell the first legitimate black Presidential candidate how to be a Presidential nominee.

What did Jackson criticize? Of all things, he criticized Obama's largely positive emphasis on responsibility and personal accountability. Why does Jackson oppose this? Mostly because it is the exact opposite of what he has built a career on. Jesse Jackson has made a living out of talking about the racial separation that exists in the US; he does not, and has never, made any real efforts to minimize these separations. Where Obama has encouraged black communities to, more or less, do their best in the future regardless of the situation, Jackson prefers to focus on what has happened in the past.

Obviously there are large divisions between black and white groups (most of which is driven by poverty and a division in class). Still, I think everyone can agree that the best way to solve these problems is to work on a solution for the future, rather than lambasting past discrepancies on TV so that you can earn a rather healthy paycheque.

Jesse Jackson is blatantly racist (Hymietown, anyone?) and for him to comment on Obama's policies on race relations is ludicrous. If Jackson even remotely cared about the history that Obama is making, he would have kept his mouth shut. For whatever reason, he thinks what he said is more acceptable because he didn't know the mic was on. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Let me ask this question. What do you think the reaction would have been like if Don Imus would have said this exact same thing? I think he would have been ripped apart and I don't think it's right.

you people are all foolish for not seeing this for what it is... a political maneuver designed to distance Obama from prominent black leaders viewed negatively by white voters.

Jesse Jackson was wrong. Using race again (by using Imus) greatly weakens your point. Drawing such comparisons are completely fruitless and only detract from the actual issue.

I wouldn't say he is viewed negatively by white voters exclusively. A lot of people make this a race issue and forget that the base Obama misses is largely left-center or right wing voters, which happens to be a large number of white blue-collar voters.

Besides, the more the race card is played, the less likely Obama is to win over white voters. We've seen that already in the Democratic Nominee campaigns.

edit: Simply put, I don't believe that this is even remotely a positive story for Obama. What you have is someone who is (for whatever reason) often considered a voice for black communities coming out and saying he doesn't like the way Obama speaks to black communities. How does that instill confidence in a voter?

No. It brings up a whole other issue. When Imus voiced those remarks about the basketball team he was totally ripped apart, but when Jackson made this remark the reaction has not been nearly the same. So I reason that it is "ok" or not as bad for a black to make degrading remarks about another black, but if a white said the same thing it would be much worse.

Faulkton - For the Win, trying to position himself so far past rev wright, that he's past Jessie. Pure political stagery.

Because Imus is a jagoff that likes to say shit to stir shit up. But in the end, he would've just got taken off another show and put onto a different station. Depends on who you are.

OJ...... Fired immediately from NBC

Marv..........works the rest of the NBA season then is off for a hot minute then worked Ney York/NJ games now it's like the *** raping never happened.

And for the record if Jesse said that shit about McCain, it would be a totally different reaction.

It's too many factors.....All boils down to who you are.
