Its who has the biggest wing......

the new mustang gt is an amazing car actually.
Meh, until you turn. Which is a huge issue we have had for years. We can generate a ton of power, and go straight. Then when it comes to suspension and braking we get lost and no idea what to do. lol We have gotten better over the years, but still far behind the curve.

um the corners is where the mustang is best. It was also developed by Fords European division. I would put money on it being the best handling straight axle car around. If I remember right the mustang out ran the 370z on the road course.

Im guessing many of you dont know the story behind that wing. In 1969/70 Dodge released the Daytona (aka Plymouth Superbird). It was not a Superbee, it was made from the Charger platform. It was basically a charger with a bigger engine, pointed nose piece, and yes, a huge wing very similar to the one on the car in the OP. This was back when NASCAR vehicles adhered much more to what production vehicles actually were, unlike today where the 'stock car' only really resembles the stock/production version in name only. Dodge wanted to improve their NASCAR performance, and yes that huge and ugly wing makes a difference at 200mph, so they released the minimum number of these things as was required to be considered 'production' by nascar (200 of each iirc). The ironic part was, in 1969 nobody liked them, they sat on dealer lots and almost couldnt be given away, but due to their rarity are now one of the most valuable 60's muscle cars ever made. As in, worth like 7 figures today. Obviously this new Challenger version is a pale comparison to the original, and with 'limited edition' production vehicles being so common these days, I doubt this one will ever come close to being as valuable as the original. And yes, still ugly as sin.

Just to add a little more behind the wing part- In preproduction testing, the size of the spoiler that was used was much smaller. But the way it attached to the rear fenders of the car instead of directly on the trunk lid, made the lid hit the spoiler and you couldnt get the spare tire out or access the trunk so engineers extended the height of the spoiler to compensate for the room needed to open the trunk lid. Then they found out, shit this adds even more downforce, so they kept it and basically dumblucked into getting more downforce.

The car in the op would greatly benefit from an added nose cone and front fender vents. You can't just slap on the 2ft spoiler and call it retro.

As a MOPAR enthusiast, I think it's a halfass attempt at best. But mid life crisis white trash will gobble it up no doubt.

I wish they would have come out with a REAL updated GTO before they canned Pontiac. Not that dumbass G6 or whatever they badged a GTO. I was embarrased to own an original GTO....then I started her up and took her for a spin wasn't embarrased after lol.

If the challenger wouldve had the updated stereo...Id probably bought it...but i hate that basic stereo in it...and black is a hard color to keep clean...maybe i'll find one in orange or lime green and i'll add a road runner decal on the side of the spoiler and a beep beep horn under the hood and a simulated rag top and Challenger wrote in big old english style letters down the rear quarters

When I was looking to buy my car I test drove The Challenger (unimpressed with the power, expected a bit more; but they are indeed very smexy). I test drove a Mustang GT (liked it but I'm not a mustang fan at all so I couldnt make myself get it). Drove a Camaro (nice power, but just didnt like the feel of it and space was pretty low in it IMO)......

don't ask me how I ended up with a tC after driving all of those lol

Meh at best. We are talking two different worlds here.

probably more reliable and better gas mileage than the 3 listed above ....

the new gto is faster then the older.... they did look like **** though.

the g8 is a different car all together, closer to the cadilac cts-v then the gto. The g8 was awesome.
Meh, I get more looks in the original then I ever would in that newer shit. You can find a newer one for ~10k now, good luck finding an original in good shape for that much.

As long as I keep my foot out of my tC, its pretty decent on gas, nothing spectacular though. I just liked the overall feel of the tC over the other 3 really. It felt like it had alot of potential (despite the lack of power). When it came down to it, my last 2 to choose from were the Lexus IS and the tC though and gas mileage and reliability are really moot points between those two.
