It's been a sad week...

Well, its been an interesting (and sad) past week for me. Early last week one of my friends from high school IM'd me to tell me that one of our mutual friends had cancer. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

They removed one of his testicles but by the time the operation was completed the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes. So that put me in a shitty mood. It's always the person you'd least expect it to happen to. My friend is in the army (in training) and is an awesome guy whom I've never seen sick since I've known him.

At this point we are trying to establish a benefit dinner to help alleviate some of the costs from his surgeries and his chemo treatment.

On top of that, I found out about 2 days ago (from the same friend that told me about my buddies cancer) that a girl we graduated high school with was killed in downtown chicago when a cab struck her.

She was also an awesome person even though we never really hung out or talked outside of school since we were in different "cliques". But she was always very nice to everyone no matter who they were, plus she was very intelligent and beautiful(i.e. VERY hot). She had just graduated college with a biology degree and was applying for dentistry school.

What I take away from all this is to never take what you have for granted, and always live life to the fullest because you don't know when it's going to end.

3 years ago my uncle passed away due to stomach cancer,and it was then i too realized that i need to be happy with what i have in life,rather then be pissed for what i dont have..

Thats one hard lessen to learn, Even with a clsoe relative passing. I hope your friend gets better. Hopefully next week will be better

hopefully hes has non-hodgkins lymphoma, if they found it early enough its basically the most treatable/survivable type of cancer

sorry to hear about this man.. I had a rough time last month. Started around the beginning of the month. My best friends grandfather died the first sunday of the month, then the next sunday we had to put our 11 year old cat down, and then the sunday after that my grandmother passed.

Hopefully the chemo will help to rid your friend of his ailaments. Best wishes on helping to allieviate some of his bills for him, thats something a TRUE friend would do.

**** tommy. sorry to hear about this. luckily nothing this severe has reached me in my life yet but im sure its to come as all my friends are 19-24 so its not like we arent put into situations for these things to happen.

hope your friends cancer is rid of quickly and he gets better with time. It is time that hes fighting for now, as any day with oxygen is a good one. I hope it's not too severe that its not treatable. Good luck to him and you.

Fate will go through its order and the things that happen are going to happen because they were meant to. Hope everyone can make it out healthy.

You know, I was wondering the same thing myself. But apparently they aren't taking care of it. Unless, of course, my friend doesn't know the whole story behind his medical bills and whatnot and is just trying to help out.
