ok so i got an 01 chevy cavalier wit the 2.2L engine. this seems like a good deal no? its only like $60 more than a standard 105amp alt at advance or autozone.

the bolt broke so it didn't last long (my fault though, not a build issue). it kept the voltage HIGH when working though

id rather pay more and only having to put in the alternator once then taking it out again and putting a different one in.

except in my car. the dam tensioner. you need a serpentine belt tool right, but it has to be ratchet on the end. apparently this is like a special order tool cuz advance auto, autozone, pep boys, napa, nobody has it

and its a ratchet at the end of the bar? like the 3/8" drive isnt just welded to the bar in place its a ratchet?

I cant see why it would be any more difficult than changing your oil. I think I could probably change out an alternator faster than oil. All you need is a socket and a decent sized breaker bar. Push the breaker bar and the preloaded tensioner will move and you can slip the belt out from under the tensioner and under the socket, slowly let off and poof, your belt is off. Its probably one of the easiest things to do on a car unless your alternator is mounted underneath instead of on top.

yeh it is easy to get the belt on and off. however the necessary tool is extremely hard to find. it cant be done with a normal breaker bar or socket. its very very small tite space.

Special tool? What makes it so special? I have never had a Caviler, but I have had my fair share of GM vehicles and they all had the same tensioner setup
