Im in the mist of building my enclosure, the front has a double baffle 1.5" thick. I cut out the holes for the subwoofers, I looked on the inside of the enclosure and noticed that there is only like .3-.5" diameter of open space between the baffle and the basket. Plus I noticed that the open space on the basket from the rim to the spider is like 1.5"deep or so, Im just wondering if having such a deep baffle like this, and that there is a small gap between the baffle and the basket will harm the performance of the woofers?

i think what ur saying is, that the sub has some play in the mount hole?

If thats the case as long as u get it to seat and seal well there should be no issue. If thats not the problem let me know and maybe a better explination //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif and ill do my best again.

it should be fine. one way to find out would be to put your woofers in and play for a bit and see if the woofers stay cool during play. that is if it really effects the heat dissapation of the woofer but i highly doubt it

Let me try to explain it better, Ok the front baffle is 1.5" deep, the subwoofers (open space, where you can see the cone and spider)is 1.5" or so deep. So the "open" space is surrounded by baffle there is only a .3-.5" diameter open space between the baffle and basket. Will it affect the subs performance? Am i gonna have to bevel the baffle?

Next time, use a single 1" piece for the top

there are a lot of us using 1 1/2" thick front baffle and as i have noticed nothing to be wrong with the applications i have had

very nice choice of woofers. keep me updated im very curious to know what they are capable of, heard 1 12 sealed and it was ok, dont think sealed did it any justice.lol let me know when you get it done
