Is my battery ok??

Ok, that makes a hell of alot more sense than the op....if the wire ran from ground cable to chassis, you shouldnt have messed up any electrical really, and if ur battery didnt melt or anything, i cant forsee it being hurt...could throw a DMM on it quick, check voltage make sure it aint all whacked for some reason...other than that, I dont know what else u could have fried. And you said your amps and such still work? which means after this happened, you still continued to hook the battery up and try everything? Which means your battery is functioning?
yea i didnt get a chance to remove the negative off before it happened and trust me if everything alright i will spend the next 5 hours making sure everything is nice and tight... that almost gave me a heart attack seeing as I just got my 1500.1 today...

And I crimped my wires with my vice grips...

I wouldn't sweat it too much man, I doubt anything went wrong if your battery still reads fine and didn't explode/melt/expand

yea i just took the battery out and checked the whole case and it looks just like it did when i bought it. I still havent started the car back up yet as im just gonna finish the job first but everything still looks good.

Fixed that for you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Well, Crimping with a actual tool is a hell of alot better than vise-grips....

And, If you strike a + to - on a battery, u will get smoke reguardless...how much is the question....

Ill put my crimped termianls up against a soldered in terms of strength and hold any day //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I dont see how solder would improve it. Electricity flows on the surface of each strand so when you solder, you connect all those strands into one big one which is less area for the electricity to travel.

I'm sure that 1/2" makes a huge difference on the entire run of wire

ok guys a little update...I just tried rehooking up the battery and eveytime i go to connect the negative terminal i get nothing but sparks flying....Im pretty sure I have the right cables hooked up as red is postive and black is negative and Ive never experienced a problem like this in all the times ive removed the battery. I use to get small arches wen first putting the negative on but now i get sparks as to where I cant even screw it in properly...
