just like the title says, is it ever "safe" to run any car amplifier @ .5ohm or below 1-ohm mode? what are the exceptions?

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161 (4 Dual 4-ohm subwoofers wired in PARALELL)

i currently have 2 dual 4-ohm subs and a sweet deal might come thru for another pair of dual 4-ohm subs. my only amp is an hifonics brutus BX1000D which is 1ohm stable. so im seeking advice whether not to risk my equipment and whatnot.

can anyone point me in the right direction on how i would go about this?

A lot of reputable amps will run at that load. Keep in mind you are going to need the electrical system to support it tho (HO Alternator, Deep cycle battery, Big3, etc...). Also you'll have impedance rise...so it should help some...

I'd try to pick up a modded MTX 1501d if you can.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/word.gif.64b12e39f936af3b4fff38a1c0bd0244.gif Many amplifiers are able to run at impedances much lower than they are rated for, and many are rated at impedances lower than 1 ohm. It all depends on the amplifier, and if you have the equipment to keep up with those high current draws.
