is it absolutely necessary to fuse

if it isnt fused and that wire grounds out watch your car go up in flames //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

any wire with current on it should be fused.... and closer to the alt the better

Maybe that is why my car didn't come with a fuse on the alt-batt wire from the factory...

Just zip tie it back, and you won't have probelms. Most stock positive lead wires from the alternator are not fused //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif...

Also, I'v had mine unfused for about THREE years. No problems. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
