I'm currently running a 100.4 pdx and a 1000.1 pdx

I will be doing the big 3 soon

this is in a 03 pontiac grand am

do i need a audio battery

or should a standard battery work

and whats the diff between the two?

Do you know what size alt you have?

You should have a good deep cycle style battery. You will void the warranty on any standard batt because they are not desinged to deep voltage dips that your sub amp will cause.

Good deep cycle audio, race car, marine or RV style batt, as big as you can fit.

red top i recomend for under the hood.

yellow top for accessories or 2nd batt.

you can also use a yellow top under your hood their labeled as dual use battery

Red is a "starting" type batt, similar to a normal batt, except with optima's they are sealed batts. Normal batts aren't sealed.

Yellow and blue tops are deep cycle batts for audio, RV, marine etc. If your' only going to have one, you should get a deep cycle batt. It does not have to be an optima or sealed batt. Most people now recommend the kinetic. I'd stick with the major batt brands like kinetic or optima.

I have two batts. A red top under the hood and a yellow top in the rear thru a battery isolator. You don't need two batts, I did it so I could listen with the engine off when I go camping.
