Is 160amps good for 1500rms watts?

1500RMS/14.8V=101 amps. Now say 70 percent efficiency, which is rather low, means the amp will draw, at most, 144 amps (101/.70=144).

Thanks guys I just wanna make sure I don't drop at idle. Driving it puts out 290 so I have no concerns about that. I'm just worried about how the 160 idle handles 1500rms. I wanna be 110 percent certain ill be fine with 160amps powering a 1500rms system before I throw almost 700 dollars out my pocket lol.
You'll be fine man.... Like I said. I'm pulling just as much current on my 70a alt and don't have any issues. And besides, the difference between 160a, and 170a, is negligible. And usually when you're driving around, you're driving, so you'll be getting 290a. Regardless, you can idle all day long and it won't be an issue.

And both my amps are class d amps, so they'll probably be even better the 70% efficiency

and you won't get 1500 out of that amp assuming you start at 1ohm and rise....

alt will be more then enough. I run 2 3500's in my daily at 1ohm each with a single 270xp.

Why are you so concerned about idle output, do you sit and play full tilt at idle all the time? Might need to rev the motor a little, but not with just a 1500...
