Is 160amps good for 1500rms watts?

I have a 2006 hyundai sonata 3.3L V6. The alternator I'm lookin at from dcpower is an SPX-I which is 14.8 voltage and 160amps hot idle, while its NORMAL idle amperage is 180. So im figuring my idle amperage will be between 160-170 while it's hott. Is that enough for a 1500rms watt system? I don't want light dimming. I installed a kinetic HC 1800 as my one and only main battery and I upgraded to the big 3.

Would I still get light dimming and massive drops in volts? I'm mainly worried why the idle is so low.

how much do you mean by plenty. say i have my lights and my ac on/heater. Would I be getting severe light dimming with 14.8 volts at 160amps idle?

I mean, at HOT max the alt puts out 290 which I'm not concerned about. I'm worrying about the idle. So, with 160 amps I should see no drops and be fine? Do you think I should purchase this? or wait for the xp to come in stock which does 170 at HOT idle? (Keep in mind, the XP hasnt been in stock for months..so thats why i've been just leaning towards the SPX-I)

I believe my stock alt is 130 max..but probably ***** at idle.
right on, well you are making quite a jump up in max amperage, 130 to 270 so thats around 140 excess amps that can go directly to supporting the battery and the amp load. I'm sure you will see a good excess of 80 to 90 amps at idle which is still a damn good amount of excess to support 1500 rms.

Nice. So you're basically saying with 160amp alt running at 14.8 volts i should have excess amps left over even running a 1500rms watt system?

yeah man should be good. whats the fuse rating on the amp?
Well i have a kicker 11ix1000.1 and an apline pdx f4. theres no fuse i cN see on the kicker but the alpine has a 60 amp fuse

Thanks guys I just wanna make sure I don't drop at idle. Driving it puts out 290 so I have no concerns about that. I'm just worried about how the 160 idle handles 1500rms. I wanna be 110 percent certain ill be fine with 160amps powering a 1500rms system before I throw almost 700 dollars out my pocket lol.
