Is 150 amps enough?

ha ha so sorry to interrupt but it is a total of 1800rms. Would a good battery near the amp do the trick or would a higher output alternator be needed? I guess because I've never done two battery's I'm curious about how effective the second battery wouldbe (I know they get expensive).

Yes, a 2nd battery is plenty for 1800 watts RMS with a 150 amp alt. These idiots that run 3-4 batteries and a super alt for 2000 watts are wasting money. Yes I said it. I've been running systems since the early 90's and just now put in a 2nd battery because I'm exceeding 2000 watts RMS.

I regularly run a home system at 1000 watts RMS off a regular deep cycle 105Mah (900 CCA) battery from Walmart of all places. I run it for hours at a time on music without needing a charge, literally hours.

Idiots read crap on the web and think they need to blow a bunch of $$$ on stuff they don't need. Only upgrade when you notice your power dropping below 12.5V or your lights dimming severely. As long as you're not dropping below 12.5V, you're not hurting anything. Anyone that says otherwise is an idiot or a teenager.

An amp that's rated at 14V is not a real measurement in my book. Most stock charging systems can't exceed 13.5V so unless the manufacture expects everyone to run an upgraded electrical system, you're pissing $$ into the wind buying amps that are spec'd at @ 14V compared to 12V.

Just to add, when an average car is running the fuel injection system and ignition is only taking about 30-40 amps maximum, including the fuel pump. Put your high beams on and you're drawing another 20 amps or less. 60 amps maximum. If you were to run ALL of your accessories and all of the fans, etc. you might draw 100 amps at the most with a crappy old worn out wiring harness. I restore 45 year old cars that run 40 amp generators and can run a 500 watt amp easily. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
