Yes, a 2nd battery is plenty for 1800 watts RMS with a 150 amp alt. These idiots that run 3-4 batteries and a super alt for 2000 watts are wasting money. Yes I said it. I've been running systems since the early 90's and just now put in a 2nd battery because I'm exceeding 2000 watts RMS.
I regularly run a home system at 1000 watts RMS off a regular deep cycle 105Mah (900 CCA) battery from Walmart of all places. I run it for hours at a time on music without needing a charge, literally hours.
Idiots read crap on the web and think they need to blow a bunch of $$$ on stuff they don't need. Only upgrade when you notice your power dropping below 12.5V or your lights dimming severely. As long as you're not dropping below 12.5V, you're not hurting anything. Anyone that says otherwise is an idiot or a teenager.
An amp that's rated at 14V is not a real measurement in my book. Most stock charging systems can't exceed 13.5V so unless the manufacture expects everyone to run an upgraded electrical system, you're pissing $$ into the wind buying amps that are spec'd at @ 14V compared to 12V.
