LOL id say i was reaching 140+ from recent setups ive heard. mine was a 15 on....~600 watts (impedence rise on 9.1 2 ohms.) and it was sealed in 1.5 cubes......IN A TRUNK

no idea how you managed that, the woofs just dont get loud? It just didn't mechanically handle the power and didn't do anything with it before that... especially at the lower note. I assume the score was on a TL?
That is also too low of a note for a grand cherokee on the dash... ? heh

he has a video of the type r's doing what they do best. BUT check the box and the trunkspace. im sure he builds awesome boxes but.....its nothing special from what i hear. as for jellyfish......thats just insane what he has lol.

146 is possible... but when you are on an AC there is no telling the difference it will have.

The type R's aren't magical SPL woofs... they work well if you know what your doing.

As far as I've tested... the RL-P will only number at 50hz+

FALSE. You read that somewhere without doing any research. Stop spreading that kind of information. Don't do that with ANY company, I'm no eD suckup, but that's ANIT-HYPE.

I've read it in multiple places. Not to mention the numourous amount of people who have problems with their eD amps and sound deadening.

Another thing to ponder to is, these large companies have more $ for research and development, so I would also think they could produce some fantastic woofers with a well qualified team of designers, rather jim smith out of his garage or whatever.

BTW I hit 137 w/ my atlas and nine.2 in a sealed box.

from what is said ur boxes arent anything more than a real quality built box with all spl precautions taken. and trunkspace.....in the two type r 12 enclosure..u have no trunkspace, the video shows that.

Yes, those large companies have money for in-house R&D.

But, what you have to remember is that the internet brands use buildhouses (such as TC Sounds, Destijl, Resonance Inc, etc), who do their own internal R&D and then sell those R&D'd products or variations of them to multiple companies (including internet brands) to make back their money.

So, just because a company isn't big and doesn't have tons of capital, it doesn't mean there wasn't a fair about of R&D that went into their products.

For example; while Soundsplinter is an internet company, they use a buildhouse called TC Sounds who builds subwoofers for some very large companies such as Eclipse, Lightening Audio, SVS, etc......so, some of these products are closer to "mainstream" in build and design than you may realize.

In general though, I think maybe I got fooled into thinking the mainstream stuff is crap, when alot of it is really good. I know lots of people that love eD, I personally am not to happy with them. My kv2 looked no better than anything else on the circuit city wall. My atlas is great, but once again, all of these subs seem to be copies of something else. Its like one company makes a sub, and 9 other companies slap their logos on them. With the price per performance thing, I wonder, wouldn't a larger company be able to produce high featured woofers at a low cost? I would think the small companies would have problems with that.
The followings of these internet companies are also wierd, and I find myself guilty of it sometimes too. But like eD, very odd, its like they have a gang of total *** kissers, and then others who are total anti's. I for one can't believe people can tolerate them, they edit out almost everything on icix, and close any and all threads that say something somewhat negative about an eD product, even if its asking for help (IE like my nine.2 that overheats every 20 sec.)

I just seems like I can trust a larger company better, since they dont work out of their garage or whatever, and they dont need to rip people off. Plus, the new type-r's look like they smoke everything else in their price range, name brand or not.

I don't care what my speakers look like. All I care is how they perform.

Thats another, whenever you hear someone saying something negative about an internet product, they get blasted with "your install sucks!"
And I really wonder about the rl-p v.s. jl comparision, Id like to see an actually test between the two.

As for my install, it works fine, its an ed nine.2 powering an atlas 15 in a 3.5 cube box (sealed) off of a pioneer premier HU, My kv2 is in a 1.5 sealed box.

As for trusting a shop owner, I live in a college town (ann arbor MI) where people are well educated, and know their stuff, because if they dont, they go out of buisness. I know there are alot of moronic shops out there, but we have some pretty nice ones around us.

Also, companys like memphis audio are mainstream, and they have killer subs for the money. Im not saying all online companies ****, because I dont know that, I do know that alot of the mainstream stuff is assumed to be crap, when its not.

I guess it partially depends on if you're going to a car audio stor or if you're going to circuit city, bestbuy. I wouldn't buy a fosgate, jbl, sony, polk, kicker (from bestbuy, ciricuit city) because they probably only have bottom of the line models. If you go to a car audio store quality and performance will improve but the pricing shoots way up.
