Internal Voltage Regulator

does anyone know of place/person that's able to modify an internal voltage regulator. i was advised if i rebuild my current alt that i would only increase my idle output by 10 amps due to the voltage regulator. i know you can increase idle output by increasing your idle rpm or changing the pulley, but i would like to know if the voltage regulator can be modified. thanks!

i spoke with a person who knows how to modify voltage regulators and he told that no matter how powerful of an alt i get for my application, the voltage regulator will limit the amount of amps that is produced at idle to a preset amount. this may or may not be true. if anyone can clarify this, please do. he said he can change the resistance of the signal and fool the regulator but it has a good amount of risk.

hes right. the VR is designed to limit the output. Its there for a reason... dont f-uck with it. If you still need more amps at idle get a different alt that has more amps at idle.

do you know if different manufactures use different vr's for their alts? or are they set to match the oem setting? thanks!
