Full Digital Sound Products

Clarion’s full digital system minimizes sound loss to the extreme. This enables unprecedented sound fidelity where the true essence of the sound source is reproduced as-is, and contributes to ear-awakening high-response sound. Attention all music lovers: Brace yourselves for Full Digital Sound that will move you like never before.

Full Digital Sound

From Source to Speakers, Digital-to-Digital Changes Audio

Full digital signal transfer from a digital source enables direct input of High-Resolution Audio sources to the speakers without loss. High quality full digital sound is reproduced, with purity that’s true to the original. High efficiency conversion from digital signals into sound makes the system capable of delivering 4 times the high power output of conventional full digital systems, while achieving low power consumption that’s only about 1/5th that of analogue systems.*1

Full Digital Sound Technology

World's First*2 Originally Developed In-car LSI

Clarion developed the first LSI optimized for in-vehicle use that efficiently converts digital signals into sound, helping to achieve higher quality playback of full digital sound, while ensuring efficient energy consumption.

*2 As of September 2015 (Clarion research).

Digital Processor Delivers Versatility

The digital processor accommodates factory original centre units as well as those from other manufacturers, and external digital audio equipment. The ability to connect analogue speakers also contributes to the system’s versatility.

Newly Developed 6-Layer Voice Coil Goes beyond Conventional Thinking

The system incorporates Dnote digital signal processing technology and 6-layer multi-voice coil, transmitting multiple digital signals directly to the voice coil to realise a precise cone stroke. By consolidating 6 different vibrational forces, the speaker delivers high-powered high-quality sound.

High-Resolution Audio Playback Compatible

Just connect a smartphone (Android™), and you’ll be able to enjoy playing the music files stored on it, including High-Resolution Audio content, with high quality (from digital to digital) reproduction.

This is amazing. And quite intriguing.

I'd say it probably sounds very clean, but won't be loud enough for lots of people on the forums.

I will assume its gonna cost a fortune, but if not, this would be something very cool to incorporate in a more SQ based daily driver or something along those lines.

It's not wireless audio. It's extremely efficient with 6 voice coils on the woofers. The complete package is expensive if you look at it as a head unit, a DSP, a subwoofer and component speakers, but it requires no additional amplifiers. The potential savings on installation labor, supporting wiring and space could be huge.

i don't see the point. digital isn't superior to analog. your still going to amplify the signal and its still going to be analog regardless..

clarion should focus on making something good in the market that exists..

scratches head. not like analog sounds bad in the first place.

The cost of entry for the FDS system starts at $999.99 for the Z3 DSP and two tweeters, $799.99 for the Z7 speakers, and $749.99 for the Z25W subwoofer. So for under $2,000, you get a basic FDS system, at least for the front sound stage.

Thats a lot lower than I expected, nice!
I'd honestly just do the Z3 and Z7, the subs need to be plugged into a ground and power wires, so it loses its purposes of easy installation. But don't forget about the compatible head unit also, that's another $999

The missing piece of the puzzle here is factoring in Clarion's OEM business. This technology will be coming in new cars in the future.

The correct answer is yes, you want both left and right so you get low end information from both channels. It is very common for recording...

The preamp input on most amps is 10-20k ohms, so you don't really lose voltage. I've run plenty of systems off 2v preamps with no problems.
