yes I know its necro but had too...
First off if it isn't you fault the other driver in most states cover EVERTHING damaged. Besure to check your underinsured uninsured guys. Like in Cali state min
* $15,000 for injury/death to one person.
* $30,000 for injury/death to more than one person.
* $5,000 for damage to property. this counts for all cars/prop damaged
So say I have state min and I hit your nice tahoe with 16 15inch mojos in it and there was a explosion and you live and you hve just "plpd" well then my insurance will cut you a check for 5k and tell you good luck. You could try to sue me but I am filing bankruptcy so your wasting more money.
So check your plans... even if you have FI....
If you have FI then you better ask if your Aftermarket audio is covered. Most will not cover it out of the box with out extra insurance and I think it runs like 10.00 a month per 1000 or so. If your crap gets stolen and do don't have this to bad...
If there is damaged goods like speakers etc.. Most of the time there needs to be proof of them and the adjuster will take pics and they are smart enough to figure out the cost. A lot will play stupid to see if you will lie etc so they can get out of paying the whole claim and that in turn might get someone a bonus. So be honest.
Now 99% of them aren't going to ship you out 16 mojos if they are all wrecked. They will take that cost and add it to prop damage part and if there is enough after the body shop they will send you a check. But say they send you a check for 2k to cover your subs and a box then your free to buy other subs. They don't care at all.
Hope this clears up some crap. I paid claims for years and really best thing I can tell you is know your plan because I seen many people time after time get ****ed. Biggest thing is the driver at faults policy going dry to fast or they total you car and you still owe money and the difference between what your plan covers and what you still owe winds up for you to deal with and it could be 1200 to the most I saw was 7390
