Insurance to replace rediculously expensive subs for something new need ideas...

Ok so let me start out with the short story...I was rear-ended and they decided to fix my car but they have to replace my 2 MTX 9500 12"s. The only problem is I thought I knew what I wanted...I wanted 2 12" Fi BTLs....now the only problem is 2 BTLs = 1 MTX 9512-44 in cost and I cant fit 4 12"s in my car....

Now I need help spending this money...the MTX website quotes 830$ EACH and I did not pay that much for them....but the autoshop said they are going to give me value of the subs and a little more but not overboard....and I see this as a golden opportunity to get the best subs I could ever have since I could never afford these on my retail job @ homedepot....a little bit of luck has shined my way on a bad situation altho I have a salvaged car I get massive woofers....

The only way Ive come close to spending 1600$ on 2 12"s is to get 2 12" wardens......

Ive been around car audio for a few years and learned a ton from everybody here I cant thank you all enough for all the posts I read....but Im not near as knowledgeable as most of you here and I would really appreciate some advice....like what would you do if they were going to give you nearly 2 grand to play with in a dodge charger....so unfortunately 18-21"s are out...lol

Oh yea and most importantly Im looking for a low end monster....

You do if somebody rear-ends you. His insurance company has to buy the other subs anyways at cost and replace them since he smacked into me. Im just trying to look at this positively...I paid enough for my car and to have to get the back clip replaced just because somebody runs into you kinda sucks

why not spend 800 on some super nice custom subs and put the rest into other upgrades?

friend of mine had something similar happen except he had lightning audios and he reported them as memphis mojos... 2 weeks later he had 2 brand new memphis mojos at his door

Yea but I actually have the 2 crushed MTX 9500s and its not like Im trying to get something for nothing Im just trying to turn a bad situation good....or better atleast

there were 2 18" solo x's in a 4th order bandpass in a 06 charger.

you have plenty of room.

other wise id buy the btls if thats what you really want, then use the rest for some bad *** amps.

Believe me you can fit an 18" in the trunk of a charger. Twisted_0912 is building a box right now for my buddy's 08 daytona for my old Bl 18. If I was you I would go with 2 nightshade 15's, They are low end monsters and can run fine in small boxes. I have seen people run a ns 18" in 4 cubes with success.

Unless you take out the backseat I cant imagine having enough room for a box that size with 2 18"s are you sure it wasnt a magnum? I mean **** I fight to get my 05 XXX 15" in there but people do some crazy things...

Im somewhat happy with my amp right now I have a MTX92001 and a MTX7801 that I dont use since the upgrade. I was hoping for some low end monsters like that old XXX

WTF? because somebody HIT ME I shouldnt have my system back? they have to spend 1600 before tax (retail) regardless to get the 2 MTX woofers back, whats the diff in changing them up? Its not like I didnt have them before and to not have them after doesnt seem very fair. I got my first 9500 as a christmas/bday gift from my dad and then I bought the 2nd one new and had it for about a month maybe before it got crushed. (had the first one for well over a year)

I have no doubt the nightshades would be loud but the way my trunk is I can only get a box 30" wide which just leaves me with enough room for 2 12"s and 5" or so of vent room. My original idea was to get 3 10"s but they dont make BTLs in 10s and they equal about as much cone area as 2 12"s

I dont know that I have enough power to really run 2 new XXX 12"s to their full potential but that could be a nice option....One-Way, Linear Excursion -Xmax: 54 mm

Maybe Im a sucker for the sales pitch on the BTL. Im looking to tune this box around 25-28hz if possible. I want those lows to come out very well. I always put the seats down and the way the box was it was basically sealed off from the trunk facing foward port forward firing into the cabin. I have my 05 XXX @ 30hz right now and the lows hit well all like that and the best part is I have almost no distortion/rattling anywhere besides whatever keys or ect that you may have in your car thats shaking everywhere

I just didnt want to downgrade...I know how much everybody loves MTX around here but those motors they use on the 9500 are beefy with 4" coils and can handle a lot but might not have as much low end as Im looking for and I cant just build a new box now to test it

Gonna have to disagree with you there, pal. Insurance rates are high because of many other reasons, and if this was damaged in the accident, the insurance company should be obligated to replace it.

If i had that kind of money to spend on woofers and had to spend it on woofers I'd be looking at audiopulse and nothing else. Especially if you want a good sounding setup that gets loud and super low.....
