Installing first setup... and I've got a few problems

Here's what we've got (please do not make reply with any opinions on quality you may have, these are what I have, make do):

- Sony DSX-100 Head Unit

- Sony Xplod 1000watt Amp

- Fusion Enclosure w/ 2 12-in subs with enclosed amp... not sure of the model, I believe it's in the "AM" series

- 4 Misc Speakers, 2 installed in trunk, 2 in front doors

We installed the two back speakers first and plugged them into the stock wiring, and they played successfully.

Next, we installed a Sony Xplod 1000watt Amp under the front passenger seat, and ran high-power wire from the amp to the rear back speakers that were just installed. We intend to use the Xplod amp to power all 4 misc. speakers that are being installed in the doors and back.

In addition to this, we put the Fusion enclosure in the back - and ran high powered wire to it (both high wires in the car are grounded, too).

Problem #1 - It had an odd power plug - it was a 3 by 2 white grid, and we only have a 2 by 2 white grid connector. It says one side is the ground and the other is power - not sure what the middle 2 squares are for. So we don't have a way to power the amp. We took the 2 by 2 plug and split it so that the ground was grounded, and the power had power, but the middle 2 squares had no plug.

And problem #2 - After installing the new head unit and connecting it via included RCA inputs to the Sony Xplod amp, we decided to test it thus far. In theory, the head unit would send radio to the Xplod amp, which would send its input to the back two speakers - and we'd hear music. But that didn't happen. Instead of hooking it to the battery yet, we powered it using a jump box - + on the amp input power wire and ground on the metal. The amp didn't turn on - it didn't even have a red light (which I think is protect mode?). Could this be because it didn't detect a fuse in the circuit? Or something else?

Thanks so much in advance for the help!

Not sure about your first question. You should have Red, Black and sometimes Yellow. Red and Black are power. Yellow is ignition.

#2, DO NOT USE A JUMP BOX TO POWER THE AMP. You need proper power to avoid damaging the amp. Use at least 4 gauge wiring for a 1000-watt amp, even though it probably puts out around 425RMS (you will want to research "rated" RMS power). Use proper fusing.

You need to have a proper ground, this is a must! Otherwise you risk damaging the amp.

The protect circuit will not always protect you. It is still VERY easy to damage an amp, even with 4-way protection.

The amp only needs + / - and remote + coming from the head unit to turn on. Red (+), Black(-), and Blue (remote, +12V from HU or jumper to + for testing only).

The power went into the Xplod with 4-gauge wire, without a fuse. The ground was wired to a bolt on the passenger seat rails.

The first problem is that we don't know how to hook up the Fusion amps... The plug looks like a high level input and it looks like a white grid... like so

The high-level-input is what I'm comparing it to - the 3x2 input is what's on the Fusion amp... and the bottom schematic is how it's currently wired. Is that acceptable for permanent usage, or is there a purpose to the middle 2 squares?

so you hooked up wire to the amp and didnt put a fuse in between it?
You wanna fight about it? LOL. My **** doesn't have a main fuse either , but i do have a distro/fuse block before the amps in the truck. Just god forbid the day someone decides to freak out and start poking a fork through my carpet. LOL

Your sony amp will have a remote terminal

does it look like this one here (not mine I do not own one)

Also I would not think that the sony amp is 2 ohm stable so running all 4 of your speakers from it would not work (for very long)

What model is the Sony Amp?

We didn't connect a remote in to the Fusion amps, and the Sony Xplod amp did not have a remote in.
I don't mean to be rude, but you should probably do more reading before attempting to install another system. Almost every amp or accessory will have a terminal alongside the power/ground that usually says REM. This is your remote turn on lead. It'll be the blue wire with a white stripe at the back of the head unit. This is what tells the amp, eq, crossover, or whatever to turn on & off when the head unit does.

The fusing is not for protecting your amps! Its for protecting your car! If you have a short in your power wire or amp, the fuse will blow instead of the wire burning. Wires burning = possible car fire/total meltdown. I have a friend who watched his GTI burn to the ground while he was camping (no running water).

I could see one of your 10 kids deciding that is a good idea
