install world

this is why the really good shops charge so much and keep your car for longer than one day b/c if it's actually done right a full install takes about a full day to days. Alot of the bad installers come from bad customers. yes that's right i'm pointing the finger at those cheap asses. 1 guy that owns a shop hooks up some stranger b/c his business is slow and than he goes and brags to his buddies that he hooked him up on the cheap and did it fast. than everyone that goes to him expects the same and refuses to give good work time to get done. BB has MECP installers but they are kids that just read a book and passed a test yet have never even seen under the hood of a car muchless behind the dash. all the BB guys are bronze certified and it's the blind leading the blind. a buddy of mine owns a shop and he works all day 6 days a week b/c his installers cannot trouble shoot the same problem on 2 different cars. very few installers do it b/c they love it and want to always know more. if ppl would actually shop around for an installer like they would for the product there would have less junk shops on the market. ppl are more concerned about saving money than getting it done right. ppl would rather spend $2k on $4k of product and do a half ass install with a buddy over the weekend that looks and sounds like shit than bringing it to a shop and spend $3k to get a really nice install with good product and being without their car for 3-4 days.

My local best buy installed my mom's satellite radio and to run the power wire ya know what the did?
lol, they literally took the power plug with the cigarette plug end, and used ELECTRICAL TAPE to tape wires to the positive and negative parts on the plug, then just went to the fuse panel and wired into one of the fuses...

facepalm

EDIT: Oh and I went into a local shop and while talking to the clerk they had no idea what the big 3 was, and said adding batteries was stupid, I needed a cap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
this. everytime i go to car toys and kinda peak at their batteries they always say a cap will work better. then i tell them i have 5kwrms and they say to get several caps. its so hard to go there and check out some of the new stuff they get because i have to listen to retards.

i can tell you why they say this b/c the markup on a cap is higher than a battery for them. money makes smart ppl dumb and stupid ppl are scared easy. if customers would pay retail you'd have much smarter installers and shops. go to a speed shop that works on Honda's and Acura's and look at their installs, than go to a speed shop that works on Audi's and VW's, you'll see that every Audi install is neat, clean, and well done b/c the customers will pay retail without question. While the Honda shop has 1 or 2 nice cars while all the other cars are pieced together junk.

Not sure if you know this but most all Portable sat radios use 5v. the converter is in the Cig power connection that comes with it. So the best way to install is to use a socket. Older ones used 12v and we could just cut off the adapter.

I know the other day i went to my local audio shop and he was talking about kicker being the number one name brand in the world and shit like that. and he was saying that an amp birth sheet is the max power not the rms of the amps output. i laughed and walked out. oh and he also said the cone area and box dont have nearly as much to do with how loud a system is as the rms does lol.
