Install in Birmingham, AL

What kind of install do you need? I live in Huntsville, I'm not really interested in traveling down there though.

I live in Alabaster, and from Huntsville, so very familiar with the area. I am putting components in the kicks with separate amps running to mid/tweet. Also pulling factory speakers from rear and adding new Focals. I am really just getting, and mounting sub under seat. Using AudioControl crossover, and possibly an eq, but have not decided.

I am doing this in a Chevy Avalanche, and just haven't had time to get started, and really need it done.

At some point in the near future, I will be putting headrest mounted monitors in the back for the kids.

I am willing to drive. Just wanted to get an idea of what people were doing around here. I am not looking for an extremely loud system or flashy, just want it to sound clean, and look good. Will probably by doing quite a bit of sound deadening before adding any audio equipment (hate rattles).

I checked at a few local shops. They are pretty pricey, but have far more knowledge than me. I would usually relish doing this myself, but don't have time to pull a car apart to pull cables. If I had to do it, where would you recommend pulling power cables from battery to rear seat of an Avalanche?

Can you take off the little plastic pieces that sit over the door frame and the floor of the truck? You could probably run them along there.

Ok, I got it all done!!! I went down to Best Buy because the had a lifetime nationwide guarantee. The installer did a great job. He hooked up the system using a Rockford amp kit that feed to two distribution blocks. One block has a Punch 4-channel amp on it, and a punch 2-channel. The four runs the front mid and tweeter, and the two runs the rear coaxial speakers. The other block has the punch mono running the 10-inch sub, and an AudioControl 6XS. The front comps are in kick panel enclosures (qforms...didn't have time to fab anything!) Coming from the head unit, is the PAC Audio AOEM-GM24. This puts out a two volt signal to the crossover.

I didn't believe that the Focals could be that bright so I didn't even think of EQ'ing this setup, but as many have mentioned; they are, and extremely efficient too, so the gain going to them is all the way down. Eventually I will be adding the AudioControl EQS, and replacing the factory head unit with an In-dash Nav unit. Still haven't decided if I would like the Kenwood 9140 or wait on Alpine Nav units. I am really leaning toward the Kenwood because it has Garmin navigation interface. I am going to add headrest monitors for the kids, so will also be looking for a good A/V distribution to feed A/V signal to from head unit. Not going to do anything fancy, just adding a tv turner, iPod cable. I really like the fact that the Kenwood has 5V pre-outs.
