Install in 2009 BMW 335

Hi, just got a new 2009 BMW 335d and looking to install my older Pioneer DEH-9800BT HU. Don't have navigation nor any other features that should make an install complicated. The specialty shop I went to said that these days ignition isn't on the harness and that installing in a BMW takes 2 hours and is complicated. Know a body shop that said it was quite easy and is willing to do it within an hour. Guess I don't understand why installing a basic HU into a new BMW without any features has become so complicated that it takes 2 hours. I'm not even asking for them to connect the HU to the steering wheel controls.

Guess I'm wondering if the specialty shop is bsing me since when I first bought my HU, I had it installed in a 2006 BMW within the hour. Anyone know if installing in the 2009 BMW has become much more complicated than before and requires a good 2 hours to install a basic HU with BT microphone?

Finding it hard to find a deck kit and wiring harness.

Thanks for your help.

car is not difficult the radio is actually takes less time to remove then the e46 does. Kit does exist Scosche BW2338B harness should be a metra 70-8591. Radio comes out by just popping out the ac controls and pulling the two scews under the radio out. Granted all of this is possible only if you do not have idrive

Thanks Worlddre! Yeah, I don't have iDrive. So I guess I can go to the body shop rather than the specialty shop. The specialty shop was talking at length about the lack of ignition in the harness and that would be more complicated than a simple install. Is that true?

Ya well in straight words IT SUCKS my father can not add anything to his bike because of that system. Not to mention his charging port is basically only good for charging a cell phone, he can not use it fro heated glove, air pumps, nothing. He can not even upgrade his lights to LED's because the cam bus will shut off that circuit. But I am going to be installing a aftermarket fuse block to take care of that problem for him.
