Problem with Bass Remote Knob..?

k i'v never had an amp with a bass remote and I just got one..

Pluged it into the amp, then the actual remote.. but theirs a red "protect" light on the knob and its turned all the way down (0 db) but the amp isn't in protect, its playing fine.

what do I need to do to get it working, iv been using the amp without the remote, but i just got one and wanted to use it.

if it is a bass boost remote be glad it doesn't work.. its a sign.. the remote or the amp.. your choice

I thought that they worked like a gain?

set the gain while the remote is on the highest setting.. then you can just turn it up and down? so all the way up, is where your amp is actually at?

some are remote gain and some are remote bass boost, what amp?

what if i set it at -8 on the headunit.

and only went to 8db (half) on the remote knob?
