Install done. Need help tuning...

I just installed an amp and sub in my girlfriends car.

Everything is working properly i just need some help with fine tuning. To me the three points in question are the stereo settings (bass, treble, etc.), inline converter levels, and amp level.

Everything is set to default right now.

Is there a proper procedure for setting levels?

Any help or just general knowledge would be appreciated. I am pretty familiar with installing of these electronics, just not the proper procedure on tuning them.
