Infinity basslink installed - mini review

I was skeptical about the Infinity basslink.

Mostly good reviews online but the few bad ones made me a little iffy.

In my G35 I had a Tc sounds LMS-R in a 2 cube ported box, powered by a nine.1 Roughly 1400rms. It was great but the box took up a lot of room and I didnt want that in this car.

I was looking into an enclosure that would fit in the G37 sedan either in a corner or blend in with the interior some how. The few I found online were around $300 and most shops around me quoted $500+. I needed to maximize space for a stroller, diaper bag, etc. Not that I always have the baby, but when I had the G35 there was no room for a stroller or anything besides a few small grocery bags.

The Infinity brand has always made decent stuff with good prices so I made an order with crutchfield.

Currently Crutchfield offers the bass link with a wiring kit for $200 shipped.

A great deal!! The service at crutchfield is beyond anything you will find with most retailers.

I found a wiring diagram in one of the stickys that had the owners manuals and maintenance guides. It was a GREAT help. I used positaps behind the radio so that I wouldn't cut into any factory wiring. The bass link provides the cables so that you can tap into your factory wiring. The only thing you need to buy are the positaps or something similar.( I will upload the diagram I used later).

I ran the speaker wires and the power wire down the passenger side. No noise issues (that is a myth about the noise when running power and your source signal). Grounded in the trunk and I was ready to go.

Initial impressions :JAMIN: This little package is impressive for what it is. It is rated at 200rms but they really make use of the passive radiator. No distortion or any unwanted frequencies. I did have a problem with the ground. I was rushing and basically half assed tightening the ground. After I got that fixed, no issues.

I think most of the bad reviews are from people who either don't know how to install audio properly or just throw it in hoping for block rocking bass. This is not for that. The basslink does its job very well and impressed me. The best part is I keep my trunk space and gain the bass that the factory system is missing.

You might be able to squeeze a few more dB out of it if its further back in the trunk (as close to the bumper as possible). I read somewhere that it reduces cancellation of waves.

We used to install these at work on our boats. They sounded like hell in that application but I always thought they had potential for a car install. I still would like to give one a listen someday. They always seemed like they would have some decent output. Anything you can compare it to in that respect?

I put in passenger side corner but it didn't seem to make a difference as far as output. I messed with the gains, crossover, and phase. Seemed to be equal either way in this application.

Id compare it to an entry level 10" sealed enclosure with around 100-400 watts.

Improves the output of the lower frequencies but isn't over bearing.

Im glad the sub doesn't distort or make any sounds.

I was worried about all the plastic that it is made of.

It gets a lot lower than I expected.

The lower notes in dubstep music are no problem.

At the same time Norah Jones sounds great.

Try putting it as far back as possible, facing the trunk, not the side panel. Honestly, the gain you will get out of it will probably not warrant the inconvenience you'd have from having it all the way in the back, but it might be worth a try just so you know how your car reacts to placement.
